What makes a construction project the best of the best? It is not just the awe-inspiring structures! The Australian Construction Achievement Award proudly presented by the Australian Constructors Associationa and Engineers Australia #ACAA also recognises projects where companies are actively contributing to a more sustainable industry. You don’t see these things when driving along a road or walking into a building. Each year ACAA finalists showcase how they are going about their work differently. They are implementing digital tools and processes to improve productivity. They are investing in training and development initiatives to equip workers with critical skills. They are creating flexible working environments that support workers’ mental and physical health. They are breaking down barriers to entry while also building a more inclusive and diverse workforce. Collaboration is strong not just within project teams but throughout the supply chain. Moreover, ACAA finalists are actively working to reduce the impact on the environment for future generations. Australia’s construction industry will be stronger for this. With just one award up for grabs, the competition is fierce. Does your project have what it takes? Find out more: https://acaa.net.au/

💡 FTMA Tech Talk: Outside the Limitations 💡 There have been previous Tech Talk articles about compliance with the National Construction Code (NCC). In Queensland, we have recently seen an increase in the number of requests by Building Surveyors for certification of designs by Registered Engineers, so it is timely for a reminder on the limitations of projects without requiring additional engineering. 👉 Read more by downloading this edition of FTMA Tech Talk below, which was written by Dean Ashton, Senior Structural Engineer of our Principal Partner, Multinail Australia. #FTMA #FTMATechTalk #FrameAndTruss #NCC #Engineering #BuildWithTimber #BuildingSurveyors

It's been a while since I've not been actively involved in university-related roles. Hence, despite being very busy with ongoing projects, this month I accepted an offer as an Adjunct A/ Professor with #GriffithUniversity. In this capacity, I'll be closely collaborating with the Griffith Civil Engineering research team and #HassanKarampour to contribute to bridging the gaps between academia and industry. We've already begun work on some sustainable long-span timber structures, focusing on vibration aspects. Furthermore, my focus will be on practical asset management and structural health monitoring through joint industrial research projects. We're working on developing new tools alongside our university and industrial partners to enhance efficiency and industry awareness of the benefits of practical structural monitoring for construction projects and asset owners. Every type of structure requires tailored solutions. We've learned that the industry needs practical and meaningful engineering-translated data rather than just a set of measurement data through which we can unlock the potential of SHM. At #RobertBirdGroup, we have a strong capability in structural monitoring, having completed recent projects. Additionally, we'll be closely collaborating with other national structural health monitoring experts, including #ANSHM, which will take place this year at RMIT. Feel free to reach out to discuss how we can make a difference and add value to your construction projects and asset management procedures at #RBG, including bridges, railways, and other types of structures. #SHM #bridges #tunnels #Assetmanagement #railways #structuralhealthmonitoring #infrastructures

Day 21 of our competency course was incredibly insightful! Today, we had the opportunity to visit a selected construction site. The hands-on experience and the knowledge we gained were invaluable. It’s amazing to see theory put into practice and witness the real-world applications of our studies. #ConstructionSiteVisit #HandsOnLearning #CompetencyCourse #BuildingKnowledge #RealWorldExperience
