🎓 Introducing Careerify: Revolutionizing Career Mentorship for Students (https://careerify.org) 🎓 I'm thrilled to announce the progress made on the launch of Careerify, the next generation platform for career mentorship and education! ⚠️ Over half of high school juniors and seniors recently surveyed reported feeling unconfident in their career readiness. Additionally, over half stated that their high schools had not helped them in finding a career they were passionate about (Leal, 2015). 🌉 Bridging the Gap: Careerify bridges this huge educational gap by revolutionizing the way students connect with professionals in the industries they are interested in. Careerify provides an open marketplace where professionals from every industry can list their experience, and students (with AI guidance) can schedule 1-on-1 video conferences with these pros. 💡 These conferences are about more than just mentorship – it's about gaining real-world insights and making informed career choices for the next generation. 🎉 Initial Launch: Where does Careerify currently stand? Though Careerify is currently in test mode (so no real transactions can take place and all data should be trivial), the vast majority of the platform is operational. Pros can join and students can schedule calls, all pages are mobile accessible, and data security has been a priority from day 1. 🚧 However, some elements of the platform are still a work in progress, so all data should be trivial, and payments (set up with Stripe) are in test mode, so no money will actually change hands. ⚙ AI-Powered Guidance: What will continue to make Careerify stand out in the future? Even though I moved into industry last year, I am blessed to still have the opportunity to adjunct a few undergrad classes. I was excised to be able to prep a brand new course that I have wanted to teach for 6 years! Now working in the skills space, I put a lot of thought into structuring my Advanced Social Media course to build skills before starting this semester. Our focus was on: brand storytelling (and visual design), content management (using SSMS tools), content development with generative AI, and analytics. While some students have basic experience with AI, learning generative AI and applying it to the field of marketing was very new for them. I know they all left with skills to add to their resume to be competitive in the job market. While we build theoretical knowledge and critical thinking skills in higher education, JOBS are also a main outcome! I was so happy to see a comment like this on the course evaluation: **** "I have learned more in her class than I ever have in school and have landed an amazing job due to what I've learned and the things I was able to list on my resume." **** Also, I think clarity in the learning outcomes and explaining the "WHY" in outlining the steps to learn a topic and complete an assignment, really helped them enjoy the online class more. **** "I felt like the assignments were always worth my time because they covered things that I would be doing in my actual career field! I never felt like I was doing busy work." **** I feel like focusing on discrete points of knowledge and skills, AND making that very visible to the students, helped everyone have a great experience. Welcome to the new age of MLM Marketing (Undergrad version): "Campus Ambassador Programs" Are you another naïve student who just dropped a classic Humble-Brag post on LinkedIn saying you have successfully completed an Internship with *Insert a shady Ed-Tech Company who sells courses on Data Science and ML*? I'll be shedding tears for your plight, no doubt. Extra sympathies if you have written, "My experience with xxx shall be invaluable for years to come." You are thrilled to have received an offer letter that says "student ambassador" from a shady company built in under 3 days using the most basic tools. Usually, these "EdTech" companies trap young minds, saying you can earn "2k-20k" per month. They shall promise you a "Letter of recommendation/Internship Completion Certificate" for enrolling an impossible number of students in their courses. Sorry to break your bubble. You shall be another pawn for these companies and destroy your social circle. This will be a pathway to lose all your friends while you are in the illusion of making a "quick buck." So, next time you see those flashy titles and tempting offers, take a step back and ask yourself: "Is this really going to contribute to my growth, or am I just another pawn in someone else's game?" Some of the tools that have drastically changed my career trajectory are - 1️⃣ Careerflow AI: LinkedIn is your first impression these days for a lot of recruiters and getting it right is important. Careerflow helps you optimize your LinkedIn profile, write cover letters and messages for recruiters and save a lot your time with automatic form filling from pre-stored information. 2️⃣ Phantom Buster: Okay, this one is just amazing. Phantom buster allows you to reach out to thousands of recruiters automatically with personalized messages and start an auto-follow up sequence so you don’t have to do it. Trust me, if you use this, tapping recruiters for off-campus opportunities becomes hell easier. 3️⃣ Framer AI: If you have in mind and want to quickly test it out with basic website setup and an online store, framer can help you with it. I know, no code website builders exist, but framer’s AI takes to a whole new level with prompt based website building. You can maybe create a resume or portfolio website and stand apart from the competition. I have been using these tools and honestly a lot of the opportunities that I got, where because of these tools and a few others. If you really wanna level up your game, I have created a Student’s Tools Cheat Sheet that has 100+ really effective tools that can make life easier for you.
