Sad reality of the education sector in India 🇮🇳 Teachers in India earn as little as 150 Rupees per hour, highlighting the challenging conditions they face in the sector. With a monthly income of 12,000 Rupees for 80 lectures, the average pay for educators remains dismally low. Despite the crucial role they play in shaping future generations, many teachers struggle to make ends meet due to these meager wages. The prevailing belief that educators should prioritize passion over fair compensation only exacerbates the issue. This mindset overlooks the basic needs of teachers, such as providing for their families. It's time to rethink the value we place on education and the educators who dedicate their lives to nurturing young minds. #Education #India #Teachers #Compensation #ValueEducation

Public Policy as a distinct field in India is in it's nascent stage but growing fast. As a student and learner of the field it excites me to see new opportunities getting created. Decision making at Government and Corporate levels conflates data, socio-economic and geo-political factors and involvement of many stakeholders, making it a complex area to work in with widespread implications. Exciting and challenging in equal measure, and truly impactful. A recent report here by The Economic Times -https://lnkd.in/gkMNGSxW

Founder Chairman, Nexus of Good; Former Secretary, School Education (2016-18) & Coal (2014-16), Govt of India. Author of "Ethical Dilemmas of a Civil Servant", "Not Just a Civil Servant" and "No More a Civil Servant"
Nexus of Good can help make-it-happen. This was the thrust of my presentation at the India Conclave at Harvard last week. There is a need to identify, understand and appreciate good work that has happened in both public and private domains and then attempt to scale and replicate such models. Public-partnership is the key as efficiencies will come from the private domain and scale from public. This article outlines the interest generated around Nexus of Good at Harvard. https://lnkd.in/gNAHKqhK

Social science researcher. Media and photography enthusiast. Interested in (almost) all things South Asia!
As I finish my MA lectures in February 2024, I am eager to find positions across Europe, North America and India that offer pre-doctoral research training exposure for early scholars interested in the political economics of media centralization and the construction of a 'national media sphere' in the post-independence age vis-a-vis the study of spatial politics and post-colonial reconfiguration of India. My interests lie in studying the post-independence state formation, assessing the economic model and policies that were implemented for reconfiguring the mass media infrastructure under the Indian National Congress. This change, I propose, may or may not have been instrumental in systemically defunding regional media cultures in India, leaving room for confusing, misleading nationalist agendas to overtake the more pressing, immediate challenges that were at play in regions far from the center or the 'metropole' - Delhi. I am interested in exploring the step forward in this regard and to understand - what could be the policy focuses for the case in point. If you have any insights or opportunities, please do not hesitate to reach out. Would be looking forward to hear your thoughts. #policyresearch #media #politics #india #socialscience #researchopportunity

Like any third world country [sic.], the world of academia in India also runs in close quarters. Conferences, symposia, workshops and even the syllabi have a fixed format, and have remained for ages. One subtle difference in the West is the heterogeneity among stakeholders. Even if you are not from academics you can just walk in or join the presentations online. I, personally, have attended few dissertation viva voce of Ph.D scholars abroad sitting in India online, and that they have been quite receptive. That perhaps is the reason why the titles with which they write their research papers, or theses or books are so catchy that a non-academic ends up buying it. The write-ups quite academic but also caters to those who may like to know. That's how I think one creates a general liking for the subject. So I come to the point now. I write on history of India. If anyone would like to read something that interests them and does not know what and where to read from; I will try to give it a try. Let's see if it works out. Cheers!

"Regarding my research area guides, Dr. Gurunatham Goli and Dr. Khafila, my esteemed research area guides, animpact of goods and services on buying behavior of Indian citizens based on their income levels. The impact of goods and services on the buying behavior of Indian citizens varies significantly based on their income levels. Higher-income individuals tend to prioritize quality, brand, and convenience, while lower-income groups often focus more on price and value for money. Luxury items may hold greater appeal for those with higher incomes, while basic necessities and affordability are key considerations for lower-income groups. Additionally, cultural factors, social status, and perceived value also influence buying decisions across income brackets in India."
