It's not an easy topic to discuss but the more we talk about it, the better off our children are. Please share this video and help #KeepKidsSafe.
One of the key ways that we can shine a light on the issue of child sexual exploitation is by talking about it. Last Thursday we opened the conversation about how children are vulnerable in many different areas of society during a panel event to officially launch It's a Penalty's #KeepKidsSafe campaign, which will run throughout the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup. Collaboration and partnership is essential to saving children from abuse and exploitation. It's only by working together that we can meet the network of perpetrators head on and disrupt this crime. When large global events, especially sporting events on this scale, roll into a city or country, children are at even more risk of abuse. It also presents a wonderful opportunity to spotlight the issue and create awareness. You can add your voice by sharing the campaign information or visiting the website. And, if you're on an international flight, look out for the campaign video. https://lnkd.in/ey8vbnsr #CSE #ChildSexualExploitation #ChildProtection

Why would anyone dread the Euros? Domestic violence and the football tournaments are closely linked, with reported incidents increasing by 26% if England plays, 38% if England loses and 11% the next day, win or lose. And similar trends in other countries. “For many existing victims, these tournaments create a period of more intense control and fear from their partners, exacerbating an already existing problem.” If you or someone you know needs support, there is a full list of helplines for women and girls in Europe available here: https://lnkd.in/eAnKxsZ5 https://lnkd.in/e66-uVJS https://lnkd.in/eUHuTiHc #euros2024 #domesticviolence

People of the world have been doing different things in support of Palestine. Let's recap some of them. 1. Posting on Social Media 2. Talking about it in gatherings 3. Boycotting products of Oppressor and friends of Oppressor. 4. Protests against Oppressors 5. Giving aid to Palestine Here is one more suggestion for the world, there are things that only Oppressors and their friends seem to have control over. All those against the oppression need to take that control back. What you can do: 1. Make products of your own so you don't have to buy from the oppressor. 2. Make governments of your own that doesn't support the oppressor. 3. Make political system and justice system of your own that doesn't rely on oppressor. 4. Have your own media that is not controlled by the oppressor. One of the ways to win the war against Oppression is to make them weak financially. Engage oppressors in things other than bombing Palestine. #palestineفلسطين

👉 The Hidden Cost of Football: Addressing the Rise in Domestic Violence During England's Matches ⚽ 😡 🤕 As England competes in the 2024 European Championship, it's crucial to address a pressing issue: the surge in #domesticviolence incidents linked to football matches. 👉 Research reveals that violent domestic abuse incidents increase by 38% when England loses and by 47% when they win⚽📈 👀 These alarming statistics highlight that both victories and defeats can trigger harmful behaviours, often exacerbated by alcohol consumption. 🚫🍺 Assistant Commissioner Louisa Rolfe, NPCC lead for domestic abuse from New Scotland Yard states, “Football tournaments mean an increased risk of domestic abuse for many victims across the UK.” During the 2022 World Cup, 999 calls related to domestic abuse "doubled" on match days. 📞 💔 Teresa Parker from Women's Aid Organisation notes that many women in refuges prefer not to have the TV on during England games due to past traumatic experiences. "For so many families, it triggers the feeling that something worse might happen," she says. 😳 Support for Those Affected by Domestic Violence 👇 If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, seek help immediately. Here are some essential resources: National Domestic Violence Hotline(UK): 0808 2000 247 (24 hours) Women's Aid Organisation: www.womensaid.org.uk Refuge: www.refuge.org.uk Men's Advice Line: 0808 801 0327 For child protection: NSPCC: 0808 800 5000 ChildLine: 0800 1111 Practical Advice for Victims: 💙 Create a Safety Plan: Identify safe areas in the house, keep a phone accessible, and know who to call. 💚 Document Incidents: Maintain a record of any abuse. 💛 Reach Out for Support: Confide in trusted friends and family members. ❤️ Seek Professional Help: Utilise helplines and local support services. Key facts: 👁 Domestic violence spikes during both losses and significant victories. Abuse is often fuelled by heightened emotions and alcohol. Raising awareness and providing support can help mitigate this issue. Ms. Rolfe outlines measures the police plan to implement during the tournament to ensure women's safety, including collaborating with charities, using domestic violence protection orders, and organising joint patrols with independent domestic violence advocates. 🚔🤝 Domestic abuse is never acceptable. By raising awareness and providing support, we can help protect those at risk and work towards ending this pervasive issue. ✉️Invitation to The Real Men Rally: Stand Against Domestic Violence✉️ This Sunday, June 16th, our Co-Director, Jacque Lachmund has the honour of being a guest speaker at The Real Men Rally at Kayo (Dolphins) Stadium. We would like to invite you all to join us in this important event to take a stand against domestic & family violence (DFV). The Real Men Rally is a call to action for husbands, fathers, brothers, sons, and uncles to visibly stand up for the women in our lives. It's a chance for us to come together and declare that we, too, have had enough of DFV in Australia. We are rallying because we’ve had enough of so many women ending up with a trauma story. These stories are not just statistics; they are the lived experiences of our loved ones. Stories of fear, helplessness, and pain. Stories of taking the long way home, of feeling trapped, of being tracked, of unwanted touch, and the heart-pounding reality of threats, coercion and abuse. The Real Men Rally is not a protest and it's not about blaming anyone. We recognise that not all men are perpetrators and that men can also be victims of DFV. However, the sad reality, is that around 95% of all victim-survivors of violence, whether women or men, experience violence from a male perpetrator. This is a national crisis that cannot be ignored, and many incidents go unreported. ✨We all need to be the change✨. Join us to learn more about this massive and complex issue that affects all of us, whether we realise it or not. Gain insights into the situation in our city and learn how to "do something" in appropriate ways if you ever find yourself confronted by a DFV situation. Your presence at The Real Men Rally will help us all become part of the solution. Grab your ticket here 👉https://realmenrally.org/ Let's stand together against domestic and family violence and make a difference in our community. #NotNowNotEver #EndDFV #SeenAndBelieved

Shockingly, half a million children were sexually abused in the Philippines in 2022 to produce online child sexual exploitation material for profit. This is truly mind boggling. That’s according to International Justice Mission and the University of Nottingham Rights Lab's new study, Scale of Harm, which provides a world-first estimate of the prevalence of the online sexual exploitation of children in the Philippines. Tragically, Australia is the third-highest consumer of the online child sexual exploitation of Filipino children, behind the US and UK. We must act urgently to improve the detection and disruption of online child sexual exploitation to protect vulnerable children in our region. Government and industry must work together to tighten controls on payment for and access of child sexual abuse material on everyday tech and financial services platforms, where they are currently readily accessible. Our justice system must intensify efforts to identify, arrest, and hold more offenders accountable, ensuring that offenders receive prison sentences commensurate to the profound harm they have caused and pay compensation to survivors. To find out more about the nature of this crime and what Australia can do about it, read here https://lnkd.in/gsVhJMW3 Philippines: The Scale of Harm report finds Australian offenders are a key driver of child abuse (smh.com.au) Grace Wong Hiroko Sawai Briony Camp Dr Lindsay McMillan OAM FAICD Joanna Mansfield James Cockayne
