I saw a post by Scott R. the other day of 1970s Nike advertising. It tells the story of John Brown & partners running a series of ads that came about by chance connecting with consumers in a way of attachment. The story goes Pasty Mest’s (Nike as manager) brief to John Brown was "write something that makes runners feel good about themselves." which sparked “there is no finish line.” The impact this had on the consumer was massive. The story goes that Nike received letters from their consumers thanking them for such an inspirational piece of work and supporting them. From there we all know the story of Nikes brand building adverts and slogans such as “just do it” and “it’s only a crazy dream until you do it”. This is one of the many good examples that brand building is more than the assets you’re trying to sell. It’s how do you connect to the consumer in a way that builds trust and connection. Just a Tuesday thought and thank you Scott R for sharing that story. … #branding #branddesign #brandbuilding

Nike's Advertisement Breakdown Series Part 1 👉 We all love Nike's advertisements, right? I am a big fan of them. But then, the million-dollar question arises 💲 Why do we like them so much? It's because they touch our hearts and speak to our emotions. They don't see their ad campaign as just an ad campaign. They see it as an opportunity to inspire us. Their whole focus is on their target audience. That's why they are one of the top-performing brands in the world. Not only in terms of sales revenue but in terms of brand equity as well. ( P.S - Brand equity can be simply defined as how much love people show towards a brand ( i.e the customer perspective of the brand ) ) #branding #marketing #advertising #nike

Nike is one of the most #WholeBrands around. They are consistently in our three-star brand list due to their #WholeBrandThinking and their internal manifesto to break the rules on their way to success. They match what they say and do inside with what they say and do outside (+ so much more). So it's not shocking that they produce beautiful advertising to support every aspect of their brand. #ModernConsumers love their products and their culture! My 2 favorites from this list include the Colin Kaepernick work as well as their continued “If you let me play sports” from the early 1990s. It's an emotional ad that speaks to all the life benefits for girls who play sports. Adolescent girls deliver the copy lines of “If you let me play sports, I will have more confidence, be more likely to leave a man who beats me, or suffer less depression.” Let me know your favorites: https://lnkd.in/gj_Y5FV2 Want to see how Nike and others performed in Barkley's latest State of the Whole Brand 2023 report? 🚀 Marketing Campaign Spotlight: Nike's "Dream Crazy" One marketing campaign that truly captivated my attention is Nike's "Dream Crazy" featuring Colin Kaepernick. Here's why it stood out to me: 👟 Bold Message: Nike took a bold stance by featuring Kaepernick, a polarizing figure known for his activism. The campaign's message about pursuing dreams and standing up for your beliefs resonated with many consumers. 🔥 Emotional Impact: The ad evoked strong emotions by showcasing individuals who have overcome obstacles to achieve their dreams. It connected with viewers on a personal level and inspired them to push beyond their limitations. 💡 Lesson for Marketers: This campaign teaches us the power of taking a stand and aligning with a cause that resonates with your audience. It's important to be authentic and genuine in your messaging, even if it means taking risks or challenging the status quo. What other marketing campaigns have inspired you recently? Nike with one of the best ads ever! "The ad is centered around an inspirational quote, and rather than having the name “Nike” loudly boasted all over the poster, only a small logo resides in the bottom corner with their signature motto. In fact, the name “Nike” doesn’t even appear anywhere. This 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 portrays the brand in a positive light, guiding customers to associate Nike with the words “motivational” and “inspiring.” 𝙎𝙪𝙗𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 is actually a pervasive tactic that has proven to positively influence customers’ purchasing habits." ©Emily Chen #nike #advertising #branding #marketing #brandawareness #consumerexperience #brandculture #culture #positioning

Short and sweet✅ This Nike campaign is a great example of how sometimes in marketing, less is more. Nike's ad shows nine clocks, each with a Nike Swoosh instead of a clock hand, followed by the famous slogan, "Just Do It. Anytime." What makes this simple ad so effective? 👇 The creative is direct and concise, and the message is easily understood with very little copy. The ad also owes some of its success to Nike's strong brand equity. As one of the most recognizable brands in the world, many consumers see the Nike Swoosh and automatically associate this with their "Just Do It" slogan. So, before a consumer even notices the text at the bottom of the ad, the message is already received: Nike athletes get up and train and work toward achieving their dreams at any time of day. What does your brand want to communicate to consumers? Is your current advertising helping you do that? If not, consider how market research can help you learn more about your how consumers currently view your brand and how strategic messaging can help you achieve the brand image you envision. #nike #nikead #nikecampaign #famouscampaigns #marketingcampaign #marketingstrategy #brandstrategy

By tapping into our inner desires and aspirations, NIKE doesn’t just sell more; they create loyal fans and champions. Next time you lace up, remember: it’s more than just a shoe.
