The next time you’re hiring, use this quick little tip to dramatically increase the # of quality applicants in the pool. ’Consider making your job titles a bit more creative (and thoughtful)’ Ok. Case in point – we were looking for help with executing on growth & operations for select SaaS businesses at XO. We chose to get a bit more creative and strategically spin the title a bit to attract not only more but arguably the right candidates. Picture this – Same role. Same job description. Different Job titles. ‘Growth & Operations Executive’ v/s ’Junior CEO’ and we indeed witnessed contrastingly different results not only a spike in # of candidates applying but also a sharp increase in the # of quality profiles some starting points for coming up with an appropriate title: - what character traits are you looking to attract – we were specifically looking for ownership, hunger, willingness to learn and grow fast - what’s a sexy term associated with the role’s day to day - what’s the expected seniority note that we’re by no means the first ones to do this. companies of all sizes have been doing this for ages (maybe not that frequently): Chief Meme Officer Chief Cheerleader Chief Geek People Champion Vibe Manager Sales Rockstar but be watchful: - ensure the expectations are clearly communicated - good chance that the search performance of the job listing might be affected - going too creative might flip things for the worse So, next time you’re hiring, maybe consider creating two job posts at the same time and see for yourself? P.s. we’re hiring for a rockstar engineer at Super Send. consider applying!

Does it really make sense to hire customer service rockstars? Here are some common rockstar attributes: ✅ Talented ❌ Selfish ❌ Demanding ❌ Immature ❌ Entitled ❌ Obnoxious ❌ Toxic Talent is great, but the rest of the list is a nightmare for any manager. Rockstar employees often have great numbers. That's what makes them rockstars. But they can crush your service culture. Coworkers get demotivated. Their performance suffers, and many quit. There's an even worse problem. I spent 10 years of my career helping companies prevent workplace harassment. Guess who was more likely to harass others? Rockstars. If you have a toxic rockstar on your team, your only choice might be to fire them: https://lnkd.in/e6MNKab8 Talent is one thing, but I'd take a solid team player over a rockstar any day.

What do you do when someone on your team says they are ready to step up and start leading, but you are not hiring? Someone on my team raised their hand today. They said they would love to grow from an individual contributor into a manager role. I could've just shut them down with the standard: "We are not planning on hiring right now". Instead, I made this our joint problem to solve: "We want you to have this opportunity to grow into a manager. How do we do that if we are not planning on hiring right now?" We got creative and are working on a solution. Next time a rockstar comes to you and says they are ready for more, don't shut them down. Add fuel to their ambition, because there is nothing better than hungry rockstars on your team 🚀 #leadershiplessons #teamdevelopment

Digital Transformation Leader l Supply Chain & CD Expertise I Driving Business Growth through AI Solutions
Katelin Wall, a product manager with 2 years in ed tech, had to apply to 127 jobs, got to interview with 9 companies, and finally received 2 offers. Raises a question: Is it a nightmare to find a product manager job? An article by Eira Hayward untangles this: Layoffs galore: Tech companies are hitting the brakes, leading to a job seeker surplus. AI on the rise: While AI can boost productivity, some fear it might eat into entry-level product roles. Focus on core business: Companies are tightening their belts, prioritizing core products over experimentation. Silver lining for AI-savvy applicants: AI skills are becoming a hiring priority. Tips for landing a job: Early-career PMs: Focus on getting your foot in the door, even if it's not perfect. Learn and adapt. Sharpen critical thinking: AI can't replace human judgment. Focus on understanding context and trade-offs. Network & build skills: Remote work can hinder learning and networking. Prioritize these aspects. What are your thoughts? Share your job search experiences and tips in the comments!

PMM up-skilling for B2B scale ups selling into large businesses | 3 time PMM at $100M+ ARR businesses
It was bound to happen at some point, I mean I have survived other rounds... But the employment gods have declared, quite unexpectedly, my time at FullStory is over. I plan to continue to hone my product marketing skills and I am eager to wield my experience in new and exciting environments. Speaking of new environments - Over the past few months, I quietly started Framework, my product marketing consultancy. I began by partnering with a top 5 ATS to sharpen 2 PMM-enabled sales motions with a scalable, repeatable solution — helping them dodge thousands in new software costs. I have just 2 more clients spots available, so referrals would be greatly valued. The consultant thing is an experiment for me, so I will continue to explore the realm of tech for full-time remote opportunities (#opentowork). Referrals for Senior PMM roles or higher would be greatly appreciated. Here’s to crisp transitions, savvy moves, and the next chapter of creating impactful narratives in product marketing! Let’s connect, converse, and conquer! #productmarketing #newopportunities #letsdothis

In the words of Billy Idol, yes I'm a corporate type calling people rockstars on LinkedIn 🎸 Unfortunately, people I deeply care about were impacted by the layoffs last week at Checkr, Inc. The following people exemplify what it means to be a hard worker who is kind and empathetic, while making huge impacts. Whoever hires them next should consider themselves lucky because they will have a true rockstar joining the team. Hiring in these areas? Consider the following people - ⚪ Demand Gen/ABM - Caroline Matz ⚪ Web strategy/SEO - Krista Sohmer ⚪ Design (brand, marketing, strategy) - Hannah Raudsep ⚪ Sales/Account Management - Elliot Wright ⚪ Business Development/Partnerships - Dillon W. ⚪ Customer Success - Jaylene Leslie ⚪ Customer Support/Operations - Taylor Heuser ⚪ Legal/Operations - Sean Troiano
