The American Circular Textiles (ACT) coalition has sent a letter to the Biden administration calling for circular textiles to be included within its sustainable product and procurement strategy.ACT, whose members include ThredUp, The RealReal, Rent The Runway, H&M and Reformation, works to promote circularity in the textile industry to drive sustainable job growth and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.The proposed sustainable products and services procurement rule, recently unveiled as part of President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda, aims to achieve net-zero emissions from federal procurement by 2050.https://https://lnkd.in/e6MyhNsY

The report highlights that achieving effective circularity requires functioning markets, but for many recycled materials, the secondary raw material markets are not performing well, reflecting a pressing need to tackle challenges on pricing, standards and supply stability.
