Role of Physical Education in Early Years.
How many of you consider physical education for toddlers to be nothing but playing, I have different views though. So let's open our insight towards the benefits of introducing structured physical education at an early age of 2-6 years old.
Cross lateral movements which means doing cross-body movements activating both hemispheres of the brain which enhances learning, encourages complex motor skills and improves balance and coordination.
It is well known that physical activities help in building muscle strength and developing gross motor skills, but it also brings a sense of achievement which boosts confidence and self-esteem in a child.
PE introduces sportsmanship to little children and practising sportsmanship helps in developing positive traits such as integrity, humility, respect, and empathy. It enhances leadership qualities and prepares them to face challenges.
PE includes integration and experiential learning. Most of the physical activities simulate real-life situations like working in a team, outdoor adventures, challenges, trial and error, and success and failure in real-time. While doing all these hands-on activities, children are able to apply academic concepts making learning more relevant.
