The European Commission’s new office in Nuuk marks an important milestone in the EU-Greenland partnership – supporting Greenland’s economy and strengthening critical raw material supply chains. Greenland, a European Union (EU) overseas territory, has long enjoyed a close and unique relationship with Europe. The latest step in this partnership is the opening of an EU office in Nuuk, marking a permanent EU presence in Greenland. This has been accompanied by two co-operation agreements, committing a total of almost €94m to support Greenland’s education sector and sustainable development. Liberum has raised its target price for Emmerson Plc by more than 50% following its latest update from the Khemisset #potash project in Morocco. Emmerson is developing the 100%-owned Khemisset, on which broker Liberum expects an updated feasibility study (FS) to be completed in late 2024 or early 2025. Most recently, it published a scoping study on KMP (Khemisset Multi-mineral Process), a transformational new processing route that significantly reduces environmental impact while enhancing project economics. According to Liberum, KMP does away with two key potential points of concern for the Moroccan authorities and local communities, thereby strengthening the case for the approval of Khemisset’s long-awaited environmental permit. Authored and produced by #youth, and launched at the UNECE Resource Management Week 2024, the guidebook serves as a crucial tool to aid policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and civil society to navigate the complex landscape of mineral resources crucial for the global shift toward #renewableenergy technologies. "As we accelerate towards a low-carbon future, the responsible extraction and management of critical minerals become paramount," noted Bianca Derya Neumann, Chair of Chair of the Resource Management Young Member Group of the UNECE Expert Group on Resource Management. The panel discussion on New Future: New Opportunities during the #MongoliaEconomicForum brought forth that if sustainable development drives the future it would afford maximum opportunities for investment both for public and private sector. Moderated by #MarcStewart of #CNN, the panelists who participated in the animated discussion were #DeputyPrimeMinister #Khurelbaatar, #DominicBarton of #RioTinto, #JenniferNason of #JPMorgan, and #Odjargal of #MCSgroup. Renewable energy, electric transportation, climate resilient agriculture, green and affordable housing and many other areas were identified as the areas for future growth and opportunities. I emphasized that sustainability has to be a part of universal consciousness. However, sustainability as an ideology is not enough till it is accompanied by an actionable agenda and the capacity to execute that agenda. #AsianDevelopmentBank is committed to working in a variety of ways with the Mongolian government and the private sector to promote sustainable development, including exploring opportunities through #publicprivatepartnership.
