Meet Quincy, our incredibly talented Barn Kitchen Supervisor. Quincy has been with us for almost eight years and is famous for the incredible Texas Barbecue he smokes for our Barn guests. Not only does he bring flavor to our dishes, but he also won our basketball tournament's free throw competition, boldly claiming, "and I'll win it again next year!" What does Quincy love most about his role here? "The people," he beams. "I can be myself around everyone here. Some jobs, they don't allow you to be yourself." When Quincy isn't at work, you can find him surrounded by family or playing with his two lovable pups, Chazz and the not-so-little Scrappy, weighing in at a whopping 120lbs! A sports enthusiast, Quincy's downtime is often filled with cheering on his favorite teams or shooting hoops on the court. Circa 2014, when I got #promoted to #kitchenmanager after spending two years as a #sanitation and #safety #manager with The Briad Group. The greatest lesson in my two years as a sanitation manager was understanding you have to work beside every person if you want to learn what they do; to train them how to do it with safety in mind. During my two years as sanitation manager, I decided to take on the roles of #prepcook, #grillcook, #frycook, #dishwasher, #server, #bartender, #frontofthehousemanager, #host, #busser, #expediter, #custodian (when there was a big mess in the bathroom), #security (when needed), and a great listener for staff and guest. My 2-year contract was finalized; my name was added to the restaurant's front door as the new kitchen manager. I cried that day at my job because I knew how much sweat and tears went into earning the position that I never thought would be offered to me. I say all this to say, being an #AdministrativeAssistant isn’t anything different from what I did in my sanitation manager role. I’m working beside the best of the best and learning so much. When the right opportunity comes along, I will excel in that #EdPolicy role because day by day, I’m #watching, #learning, and #assisting From #Hospitality to #EducationPolicy
