Amazing, Amazing, Amazing!! That’s all I can say about this past week in Accra, Ghana with Leaders of the Free World (LFW)and the 2024 cohort of the LFW Fellowship program. My heart is full and my interaction with these talented fellows leaves me more than optimistic about the future of Black male leaders in the international education, global affairs, and global industry space. In pursuit of our mission to increase international higher education opportunities for all, the Institute of International Education Center for Access and Equity (CAE) and Director Lindsay Calvert partnered with LFW to increase study-abroad opportunities and participation among black men in college. CAE is proud to sponsor one of the 11 LFW Fellows this year, Bryson Stokes . Bryson is a Junior at Prairie View A&M University majoring in nutrition. I was able to share in just a few of the educational and intercultural experiences Bryson and the fellows had the opportunity to participate in. From the lectures at the University of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah Institute for African Studies from the esteemed director Dr. Samuel Ntewusu; to being hosted by the US Embassy Ghana for a leadership panel; to the cultural immersion experience of learning traditional African drumming and dance from the Ghana Dance Ensemble; to the visit to Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum; to the daily meetings on leadership and meaningful reflections, - all these things combined to reflect and elevate the spirit of the LFW program and further supports the CAE mission and vision of inclusive access and equity in international education with a focus on expanding education, skills development, thought leadership, and global leaning. “Forward ever, backward never”. - Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. So happy you could experience and share the learning and impact with us. Love seeing and hearing it all through everyone's eyes (and hoping one day through my own)! Can't wait to hear more reflections from Bryson Stokes, Ray Thomas, and other participants. I'm grateful the IIE Center for Access and Equity partners with the Leaders of the Free World and co-founders Ruby Maddox and Lavar Thomas, M.S. to empower Black male leaders in their globally inspired journey.

    This past week I got to experience a couple of new “firsts”. It was my first time in Sweden and my first time attending a Future Talent Summit by Future Talent Council. I learned, I contributed, I networked, and I left with some action items. For me, it started with an outstanding session with Monroe France and others about Global Equitable Futures and what we can do “now” to make that equitable future possible for the world. This was then followed by days of packed sessions, amazing keynotes, networking and the exchange of ideas from a unique mix of individuals in higher education, business and industry, and policy makers. I loved it and bonus for me - I made a lot of new connections. (And the weather in Stockholm was an added plus 😉). Kudos on a successful summit to Co-founder Daniel Kjellsson, Cofounder Emir Cetinel , Chairperson Claudia Tattanelli, Founder Lars-Henrik Friis Molin and the rest of the team! #equity #FutureOfTalent #ai #intled
