At Cosmo Tech, we have a deep appreciation for games like Dune, Go, and Chess ♟️🎲. These games aren't just about strategy; they represent a universe of possible scenarios. With more potential combinations than there are atoms in the universe, they perfectly encapsulate the complexity and uncertainty we like to solve with AI-Simulation technology. 💡It's important to remember, though, that modern computers perform calculations with exceptional speed and accuracy, surpassing human capabilities. Artificial intelligence allows computers to learn from experience, enabling them to excel at complex games like chess and Go. This is due to the clear rules of these games and the existence of extensive databases containing recorded games with known outcomes. Computers then enhance their skills by playing numerous games with themselves, learning through the accumulated data, and understanding the rules and outcomes. 🌐 Now, imagine you are a Supply Chain Manager at a global manufacturing company. The consequences of your business decisions depend on many knowns and unknowns. You are facing a unique situation, and you can't train yourself by making that decision thousands of times to see its impact on your KPIs and the various outcomes. At best, you could use loose analogies to situations that you and other supply chain leaders have encountered in the past. However, any analogy based on past data will not suffice to cope with a completely new situation. Artificial Intelligence applies only to a small, controlled world and not to the uncertain and immensely complex world in which we actually live. ❔So, what do you do?🤔 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐀𝐈 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: ➡️AI Simulation enables the analysis of a system under abnormal conditions, rare events, or entirely new designs and scenarios that are unfeasible with traditional data-modeling approaches. ➡️Moreover, it outperforms conventional machine learning techniques by leveraging expert knowledge of cause and effect to generate reliable results. ➡️Simulation relies not only on historical data but also on the inherent dynamics of an organization's underlying systems. Understanding these capabilities helps organizations to confidently navigate complexity and uncertainty. And speaking of expertise, Benjamin Torti is our champion at Dune 🏆. Runway is going from LLMs to GWMs, General World Models. You better bet that every company is going after this—basically a multi-modal (including spatial/3D) + physics simulation of the world. OpenAI, Microsoft, Meta (tons of M&A in spatial like Scape Tech). Here are the takeaways you need to know: 1) Startups you think are niche players (Runway ML) can land and expand and move into wider plays. Runway ML started with video generation for filmmakers but they have always had an unbelievable research team and creative culture. Invest in the team and vision, not the niche. 2) Some startups share their open roles and upcoming research priorities, some don’t - “openness” is a spectrum and we're going to see companies take a stronger stance at where they fall and some might shift more or less open as a competitive advantage. 3) Multimodal AI is absolutely the future. For businesses, this means prioritizing investments in technologies that seamlessly integrate various data forms - visual, auditory, textual. We are still extremely early in the more "complex" data forms like video, 3D, and actions. I personally see this as the actual (warning: trigger word) metaverse. **this is part 2 of a two-part post. [Imitation Game v2.0] “I propose to consider the question ‘Can machines think?” 💡 A question asked by Alan Turing in 1950 in a paper which went on to describe what is now considered the bedrock of modern Artificial Intelligence. Well, machines *can* think. But not the way we do. Times have changed and so have the machines - Large Language Models are a dime a dozen and each day a new "breakthrough" is reported. Machines are leveraging the power of cheap compute and are definitely able to deceive humans. ( I mean if you swallow all the world’s information, you tend to “sound” smart). So, it is time to turn the tables. https://lnkd.in/dSAW8n7h I propose a thought experiment - Ask them to prove they are machines. To other machines. While we grab popcorn and benchmark their machine capabilities — Coherence, Consistency, Relevancy and most important of all — Obedience. Oh, and there's a judge in the mix as well, which penalises machines for bad behaviour - plagiarism, repetition, not following rules, digression etc. Here's a kicker - the judge itself is a machine. 😅 Want to see how this works out? Read the short article and BONUS: Watch the actual gameplay here: https://lnkd.in/dVgwHW5Q #AI #MachineLearning #LLM #TuringTest #Benchmarking #Gemma #Phi3 #Llama #Technology #Experiment

"Where Artificial Intelligence Ends...And Human Creativity Begins" This is the tagline of the book 'Deep Thinking' by Gary Kasparov. A fascinating book that reads like a thriller, a memoir of sorts of the former World Chess Champion. Gary narrates the journey of his battles with the then "so called intelligent machines" starting with the first battle of human vs machine with IBM's super computer 'Deep Blue' and the continuing saga. He goes DEEP in the way the Machine Chess world evolved with the advent of Artificial Intelligence not arguing whether it is a sport or a game or a hobby or an art or science but deliberates a bit into the history of techonological revolution, automation, transformation, application of statistics, prediction accuracies, robotics, the challenges faced by the pioneering AI researchers, the resistance movements towards development and advancement of disruptive new technology and the associated changes in the societal dynamics. There are enough funny anecdotes tied into arguments about how the human brain (especially that of a Chess player) works and the complexities that a machine based algorithm has had to (and still) go through to beat and surpass intelligent beings. The flawless logic courses it's way through the valleys and troughs of the Chess world, his nerve wracking account of World Championship matches brilliantly culminating into an optimistic view of 'Human Plus Machine' and the way for the society thereafter. This book is not just about Chess. It is not about just Gary's journey or a showcase of his brilliant mind. This book is a 'Historically Futuristic-Psychologically Philosophical' master piece about what it means to be Human in a world of technology and artificial intelligence and the promise it presents. People in the technology world and those who like to deliberate about Human and Artificial Intelligence buckle up to go on a rollercoaster with a DEEP THINKING Mind!!!!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝 "𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫" 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐝𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲. In 1997, IBM's Deep Blue, engineered by a team led by Feng-hsiung Hsu, made history by defeating world chess champion Garry Kasparov. This supercomputer, capable of evaluating 200 million positions per second, marked a milestone in AI development. The six-game match from May 3 to May 11 ended with Deep Blue winning 3.5 to 2.5. •Game 1 (May 3, 1997): Kasparov won. •Game 2 (May 4, 1997): Deep Blue won, the first time a computer defeated a world champion under standard time controls. •Games 3 and 4 (May 6 and 7, 1997): Both games were draws. •Game 5 (May 10, 1997): Another draw. •Game 6 (May 11, 1997): Deep Blue won, securing the match victory. This wasn't just a game - it was a turning point. Deep Blue showed us that machines could be smarter than humans in certain ways, thanks to their lightning-fast calculations and fancy algorithms. This victory sparked a huge wave of interest in AI (Artificial Intelligence), like a fire under the research pot. People started to wonder, "If machines can beat chess champions, what else can they do?". It opened people's eyes to the possibilities of AI in real-world fields like medicine and finance. ->Symbolic Victory: Chess has long been a benchmark for human intellect. A machine defeating a world champion in such a complex game symbolized AI's potential to rival human cognitive abilities. ->Technological Milestone: Deep Blue's victory showcased significant advancements in computing power and algorithms, evaluating 200 million positions per second, far surpassing human capabilities. ->AI Research Boost: Deep Blue's success captured public imagination and brought AI into mainstream awareness, raising questions about its implications for society, jobs, ethics, and intelligence. Resulting in accelerated AI research and development, contributing to advancements in machine learning, pattern recognition, and problem-solving. That was a HUGE moment! It showed us that machines could be super smart in some ways, paving the way for even crazier things like like AlphaGo beating Go champions and Dota 2 teams being defeated by AI agents.. Now, AI (Artificial Intelligence) is composing music that sounds amazing, translating languages like a pro, and even creating art that could fool you into thinking a human made it. This isn't just about games anymore - AI is getting into all sorts of fields and pushing the limits of what machines can do. Pretty cool or freaking scary, huh? How you take it as ?
