Interesting work led by Dr. Andre Retterath in partnership with Affinity.co, Synaptic, Vauban from Carta and VESTBERRY. The "Data-driven VC Landscape 2023" Report makes a strong statement that the investment process is broken: It’s manual, inefficient, non-inclusive and biased. Here's the link to the official website: https://lnkd.in/dqhhRW87 Furthermore it presents additional interesting links: As part of the report and research on the state of digitization in venture capital, they present a list of 151 data-driven VC firms that are paving the way for new industry standards: https://lnkd.in/dCv6iWUq A compilation of over 400 tools that VCs use in their tech stack across different stages of the VC value chain: https://lnkd.in/dT2BfkfS A list of 65 thought leaders driving the data-driven VC revolution: https://lnkd.in/dhHYF5mY Enjoy!

Great insights today at the deeptech investor panel at Translating Research at Melbourne from POC fund, Genesis, Tin Alley Ventures, IP Group, Uniseed and Breakthrough Victoria investment teams: - Important to do the homework when it comes to the fund’s mandate, focus, stage and interest and tailor your presentation to that. Even deeptech investors come in all shapes and sizes. - Deeptech investors understand that there are inherent technical and market risks and expect delayed returns, so both sides should treat it like a 10-year partnership. - No matter the product, it comes back to founder - resilience is important. With research startups or University spinouts, no specific expectation for the founder to go in full time or become the CEO, but then the team is important. - Startup’s typical workload happens in 4 quadrants: capital raising, operations, product development and securing revenue. If the founder isn’t invested full-time, the rest of the team will need to pick up the load. - It is still venture capital so expectations are there for 10x-20x returns Thank you Ruth Park-Jones, Jesse Toe, John Kurek, Olga Hogan, PhD, FCA, Tom Mcleod, Stephen Ho and Michelle He for sharing your perspectives!
