Levi's made some lovely ads in the 90s. Here is one of my favourites for your viewing pleasure. My brother loved his 501s at that time and I remember my dad wanting to buy him a cheaper brand. But that just wasn't 'cool'. My mum stood up for him and got him the Levi's. Motherly love, pester power or the power of youth culture? Or should that be, the brand is stronger than the patriarchy, economics, Wrangler or common sense? Whichever side of the fence you sit on, it doesn't really matter, but brands do. Rightly or wrongly. But that’s a post or a few for another time. Which ads are your favourites from that time? Or anytime, regardless of the decade you were born in? Fun fact: The song ‘Inside’ was especially written for this ad and performed by the Scottish band called ‘Stiltskin’. Message: don't shrink to fit. Or be inspired by the Amish way of life, if that’s your thing. Your voice, thoughts, ideas and feelings matter. But the various systems we operate in would have you believe otherwise.
