🌟 New Blog Post Alert! 🌟 We are excited to share our latest blog post, "Open Floor Plans: A Key to Aging in Place Comfortably." 🏡✨ As we age, the desire to stay in our own homes becomes more important. Designing a home that adapts to our changing needs is crucial, and open floor plans are a fantastic way to achieve this! In this post, I explore how open floor plans: Enhance mobility and accessibility: Spacious layouts make it easier to navigate with mobility aids and minimize tripping hazards. Improve natural light and well-being: Fewer walls mean more sunlight, creating a bright, inviting, and mood-boosting atmosphere. Encourage social interaction: Open spaces foster a communal environment, perfect for spending quality time with family. Simplify cleaning and maintenance: Decluttered, organized spaces are easier to maintain, promoting a safer and more comfortable home. Open floor plans not only modernize your home but also make it a safer, more adaptable place to live as you age. Whether you're planning for yourself or helping a loved one, this design strategy can significantly enhance comfort and independence. Check out the full post for more insights and practical tips! Your feedback and experiences are always welcome. 😊 👉 https://lnkd.in/gV57BETP #AuroraIndependence #AgingInPlace #HomeDesign #OpenFloorPlans #SeniorLiving #Accessibility #SafetyFirst #HomeImprovement

📣🏆The result of the competition #charityproject #winningdesign #neurodiversity #neuroinclusivedesign #softflooringsolutions #interiordesign #neuroinclusiveinteriors #modulyss
Yesterday we concluded our charity competition with the announcement of our winning design by Tétris Design & Build (JLL UK) designers Lucy Rees Elizabeth Loizou and Marek Krzynowek Here’s what our jury thought of the design: Jessica Meredith, founder of Differing Minds; “I think it was a really good and well-rounded design that would accommodate for not only neurodivergent children but for all children. Most children would love to operate, play and learn in a space like that, and I think it’s going to be very exciting to see it come to fruition.” Paul Harrington, Deputy Head Teacher of Carden Nursery & Primary School: “We thought that all the designs were strong, and we struggled to pick what we liked the most. But we felt that this one would fit our school and our children the best. We found that the open space plan was great and that the variety of activities would work with our different neurodivergent children. For us, the tree was a lovely idea. We liked that the tree was the centrepiece of the room. This design used the space we provided better than the other designs did.” Jose Fiallegas - Hamp, Sales Director at modulyss: “Choosing a winning design was hard. Everyone has done an amazing job and they put a lot of effort into it. But it's still a competition and there is only one winner and that’s why we’ve gone with the design of Tétris The design was outstanding in the way they managed to bring the outside world into the classroom, creating a safe environment to learn for those children.” We would also like to thank all the designers that participated in this thrilling competition! You all did an amazing job! #charityproject #winningdesign #neurodiversity #neuroinclusivedesign #softflooringsolutions #interiordesign #neuroinclusiveinteriors #modulyss

🌉 New Skybridge in Flatiron District 🏢The proposed $40M Glass Skybridge in the Flatiron District, an ambitious project by the Simons Foundation, aims to enhance connectivity between their key locations. This nonprofit, committed to advancing science and math research, plans to construct a pedestrian bridge that will extend from the 11th floor of 162 Fifth Avenue to the rooftop of 160 Fifth Avenue. Additionally, the project involves the development of a rooftop meeting space at 160 Fifth Avenue. This space will include auditorium-style eating, capable of accommodating conferences for up to 200 attendees and workshops for 60 participants. ⚖️The architectural significance of the buildings will be a factor in the approval of this project. The neo-Renaissance style building at 160 Fifth Avenue and the Beaux-Arts style building at 162 Fifth Avenue are architectural landmarks, each with a rich history dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. 🏗️ A key aspect of this project is the construction strategy. The structure is planned to be assembled offsite, which will significantly reduce on-site construction time. The goal is to complete the installation over a single weekend, thereby minimizing disruption to the local area. ⌛ The completion of this ambitious project is targeted for 2026. However, this is contingent upon receiving the necessary approvals from the city's Landmarks Preservation Commission and Department of Transportation. #nycrealestate #nycconstruction Gotham Building #realestatedevelopment #flatiron #commercialrealestate

Unpopular Opinion: If you want to increase your marketing campaign impressions... Donate more. We have proudly donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, Inc., Frostburg State University, Howard County Youth Program, and Saint Judes Children Hospital and it has made the greatest impact to our marketing campaigns. Now, our intention is to GIVE back, NOT to gain more leads. However, it is a byproduct to our the initial action that has led to a new simple way to gain leads, and increase sales volume. Ultimately, we are NOT looking for any recognition. We want to help those who are in a less fortunate situation, and would like to improve that outcome by our donation. Helping interior designers find fantastic clients - courses and 1:1 coaching | Recipe For Success Bootcamp @ £985
The Seven Deadly Sins of Interior Design Practice TIMIDITY - Sins of the Designer 1/3 1. Timidity and Opinions: Designers are hired to provide design direction - so, direct! And, explain WHY option A is better than option B (thereby demonstrating your knowledge and experience). When clients trust that you will speak up when it counts, they feel happy to choose when you occasionally say, ‘In this case I see the benefits of both options’. 2. Timidity and Boundaries: Most new designers are blindsided at some point by clients crashing boundaries that the designer never actually established: working hours, time taken to reply, project scope, favours. Boundaries should be set in advance - being brave enough to define ground rules actually helps everyone involved. 3. Timidity and Ugly Truths: Shying away from the negatives in a design project is a recipe for disaster: every project has boring bits and bad bits, good interior designers balance motivation and enthusiasm for future transformation alongside expectations management for the modest trials of getting there. 4. Timidity and MONEY!: Emotional issues around money could be parching your business - money is lovely and you've earned it. It’s the water that flows through and irrigates your business. Splash around in it - FFS, have a bath…submerge yourself. If you are unsure about charging, or feel awkward about money, let's have a chat...right now it's really cheap to talk! (See below). ----------------- I'm Julia, after two decades teaching and practising interior design, I now help others avoid mistakes and achieve success. SUMMER FUN: Right now you can book a 30-minute chat with me - to discuss any interior design sins, or other business challenges - for £30 only, with all proceeds going to St Michael's Hospice in Hereford. This deal is a 'tough lift'. There is no shortage of detractors, with significant headwinds coming from community activists, local residents and now this (among others). It is a controversial deal/proposal that induces me to thinking as an Urban Planner. The economy is less of an issue than the sheer boldness of the idea. Consider mega-deep pocketed ownership group headed by Wharton grad Josh Harris, co-founder of Apollo Global Mgt. Sixers were sold by Comcast to Harris & Co. for 280mm. Wikipedia estimates their present value via Forbes, this year, at 3.15B. Harris used to own 5% of The Steelers. That was sold when Harris led a team of investors in the purchase of The Washington (formerly Redskins) Commanders for 6.05B. Now before you dismiss the man, note Harris' deep-pocketed support of local charities and Harris donated millions to non-profits geared towards health care equity. https://lnkd.in/eqFB_BGb
