The human toll in WWII Pacific War is minuscule compared to the unimaginable if war breaks in the region today or this century. The 1945 two atomic bombs instantly killed about 70,000 in Nagasaki and 50,000 in Hiroshima. Japan lost conventionally 2 million dead, no number on the wounded and the U.S. lost about half a million, 55,145 Army, 29,263 Navy, 19,163 Marines and no number on the wounded. We must therefore understand that war is not an option. The current PRC leadership and the U.S. government should re-examine their respective policies in the Pacific and by all means, not start anything which will spiral into conflict.

YOU VOTE PUTIN EVERY TIME YOU CHOOSE SILENCE One thing here people. Quite many repost the news. But, if instead of all this attention you give now, trying to monetize on the killing, you would be using your commendable gravitas to update the public on the process of killing, Mr. Navalny could have still be alive and kicking Mr. putin in his royal ass. Where were you for months? You were silent. Now, do not make the same mistake with Ukraine' plea for support. There's a short time still. Or for that matter, take a pause and reconsider every time you decide to reject a plea to join a local civic initiative, or deny lending you gravitas to a whistleblower. Every time you do it, you =actively vote= for the system of fear and silence to make the next small step into your life. Every time you are silent, you =actively vote= for the voice of people to die. It is a dangerous illusion that, if we just let a few more killings slip in silence, beloved business-as-usual will just come back and stay. The pressure on democratic institutions will only grow. And surely, consider using google translate to visit Mr. Navalny's investigation site and see if you could advance his work in your respective locations (most of EU, UK, US, Dubai etc.) https://navalny.com/ upd: EU assets of war criminals, 2023: https://lnkd.in/d5aB4mju London realty asset schemes: https://lnkd.in/dd6j7yqq All investigations: https://lnkd.in/dEkN_a2K

The Times up to their usual editorial standard, as the murder of #Navalny takes second place behind Prince Harry’s “warm exchanges”. Remind me, who is the more significant figure? I watched the Navalny documentary again last night and was cheered (through the news gloom) by its reminder of his exquisite satirical sense of humour. Nowhere more evident than when, with Bellingcat’s help, he “#compliance interviewed” one of the FSB goons who’d tried (and failed) to assassinate him in Tomsk. Possibly the best 5 minutes of #television this century. And, er, Harry Who-was-that-again?

I knew I liked Adam Driver. And there was something more interesting in him than in so many who came before. Anyone who serves a cause lives differently. Anyone who served a cause such as the military? I can think of nothing more fitting for an actor OR for a citizen. To have to think about what your passport is worth? What your flag means to you? What you'd sacrifice for the fine people of your country? When I meet Korean and Singaporean friends who have completed their mandatory national service, they are changed souls. There's something more mature in them. More profound. They have a more commanding presence and hold themselves differently. They talk and think differently. They have an understanding of teamwork and the full force and effect of an ensemble. Personally, I can't relate to their exact experience. But I've led comedy troupes, ensembles, orchestras, and managed 250 employees in difficult daily operations. No, it's still nothing like the military. And yet. I appreciate the spirit of anyone who has served anywhere around the world. As much as I love Bill Hicks, I don't feel he quite understood the military. Or the fact that his country needed the military, or that every country needs a military. For a stand up or a lone ranger or an outlaw to understand the importance of a team? Can be challenging. But an actor is used to the symbiotic organism of a cast and a crew. I ask myself: 'What wouldn't I give for this to be the very best production it can be? Is it even a "sacrifice" if I give myself freely? To serve and protect these ideas. These ideals. This tradition? Is that not service? Are we not in this universe until the bitter-sweet end?' To serve art. And to serve your country. Or to serve any higher order understanding of anything is it's own category of devotion. Some folk die without an intellectual understanding that they will. Some soldiers are drafted and serve and come home, assuming they'll never make it out alive. Our mindsets are everything. Also. To understand how self-expression can help the finest people among us who pledge their allegiance with their very lives? This is noble. Standing armies around the world are forever stricken by issues of post traumatic stress. Who else could relate. THEM and THEM ALONE. So. Self expression. Is the key. To help these fine souls intone the fullness of human expression? To speak with the thundering bellow of a woman or a man who sounds like they would put their very lives on the line for their nation? And who did? For these beautiful women and men to come to terms with what they went through, saw and perceived... In the safe space of theatre? With trusted instructors, a team you can rely on, trainers who care about you and can guide your emotions more expertly than that person who nods at your unfathomable anguish each week in a small room? Well. This is unique. In all of history. What can theatre bring us? So very much. Before, during and after service. To act is to serve.

Two takeaways: Teammates matter - It’s not just about what we do, but who we do it with. Products and services make profits, but people make relationships. Value comes from creative energy - You can assemble cogs into everyday products, or you can innovate and find new vays to create growth and value from otherwise dissimilar concepts.
