An important milestone has been reached for the County and region. A 2nd Causeway would provide Improved Connectivity and Accessibility, Traffic Relief, Emergency Evacuation Routes, and Economic Development for the region. The new highway designation by the Commission is significant as it provides increased funding opportunities (A new highway designation may make the project eligible for specific funding streams designated for highways or transportation projects. This can help secure financial support for the construction of the new bridge), provides recognition and visibility (designating a new highway can increase the visibility of the area on a regional, state, or even national level) and provides for facilitation of regional planning (A new highway designation can be part of a broader regional planning strategy, fostering collaboration among municipalities, counties, and State).

A promising new proposal, Senate Bill 1572, aims to study extending TriMet's WES (Westside Express Service) commuter rail service between Wilsonville and Salem, which could support more sustainable and efficient land use patterns by promoting transit-oriented development, reducing sprawl, fostering economic growth, improving access to affordable housing, and mitigating congestion and emissions. It would also help Oregon create a new pathway to activate federal transit dollars with intra-city transit. This is particularly important as we outline a path for significant projects and investments in a 2025 transportation package. With broad bipartisan support for the bill, we're one step closer to making public transport an easier and more accessible option in the Willamette Valley. 2023 brought a greater mix of projects to Wisconsin’s commercial property assessed clean energy (C-PACE) program. We attribute that to a larger mix of lenders and the assistance of PACE Wisconsin stakeholder groups: counties, economic development groups, chambers, developer associations, and local utilities were essential partners in helping to spread the word about the impact of PACE as an economic development tool that creates more energy efficient buildings in Wisconsin. https://lnkd.in/dw8tHYiV
