📢 #EMS professionals deserve better! The Enhanced Emergency Medical Services Compensation Act of 2024 is a crucial step towards fair pay, mental health support, and recognition for our vital work. Let's unite and sign the petition to urge legislators to pass this act! 💪 We are #healthcare workers, not just transportation workers. This act aims to reclassify EMS professionals, acknowledging the critical medical care we provide. 🧠 Mental health matters. The act proposes a National EMS Mental Health Initiative (NEMMHI) to address the unique challenges we face. 💵 Fair compensation is essential. We deserve pay parity with other first responders, including inflation adjustments and night differentials. 📚 Educational incentives can help. The act aims to offset training costs, making EMS careers more accessible. 📊 Data-driven decisions are key. Ongoing research will monitor workforce trends and inform future improvements. 🚨 Sign the petition NOW and share with your colleagues! Together, we can make a difference. #EMS #paramedic #EMT #prehospital #healthcare #firstresponders #mentalhealth #fairpayforems Link to the #petition: https://lnkd.in/gkrSb4Fr

Working in healthcare can be a rollercoaster of emotions - from feeling scared and disheartened, to frustrated and overwhelmed, but also incredibly rewarding. As someone who transitioned from serving in the military to providing healthcare in the community, I have experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating a complex system while striving to provide excellent customer service and patient care. The healthcare system can be daunting and overwhelming at times, with bureaucratic red tape and constantly changing regulations. It can be frustrating when you feel like you're hitting roadblocks at every turn, but it's important to remember that every challenge is an opportunity to make a difference. One of the most rewarding aspects of working in healthcare is the personal connection you make with patients and their families. Seeing the impact of your care and the difference you can make in someone's life is incredibly fulfilling and makes all the challenges worth it. Every day brings a new challenge, but by using our experience and expertise, we can find solutions and make a positive impact. It's not always easy, but the rewards of working in healthcare - the lives saved, the families comforted, the difference made - make it all worthwhile.

Following the Ruth Perry Inquest, the CQC has considered the impact of its inspections on Providers at its most recent Board meeting. https://lnkd.in/gGkPsuN9 The related Board paper makes for interesting reading. In it CQC acknowledge that "Health and care providers and the people who work within them operate in a complex system. Regulation that recognises the context in which services operate and the systemic causes of poor care, and makes this explicit, may help ensure individuals do not feel disproportionate pressure and promote collaborative approaches to improvement." In addition to setting out how CQC perceive its new regulatory approach will assist in this area, the paper explains that CQC is reviewing the current training it gives to its operations staff to protect the welfare of providers following inspection and promises plans to develop a training programme to manage positive stakeholder engagement. #cqc #inspections

30 yrs working in & for the care sector. A specific interest & expertise in commissioning & procuring services for children in care. Led a review of the national fostering contract. Views personal.
This is a really interesting presentation about the way data can be used to better commission services for children in care. So much to agree with in here, particularly how there are too many children in the wrong type of placements. However, there's also some things in here I'd like to question.... 1. What work is being done to seek the views of providers who have been involved in using the tool? (I'm hearing different things, some of which chime with whats in the presentation, but some which don't). 2. When the new frameworks (referenced to in here) were designed, some providers felt unable to bid so they now care for children under different arrangements (This wasn't mentioned in the presentation and it arguably should have been to add balance, along with a proper understanding of the reasons and potential impact). 3. I feel concerned about the "number one goal for family based care for every looked after child" as this isn't supported by research and evidence which is clear that some children need and prefer a residential environment. 4. I really do think good data is so important to enable better commissioning. However, I have a significant concern that it could be interpreted in a way that leads to generic policies being developed and applied to the plan for every child. (The comment at 37:50 is an example of this). I'd like to know how the risks that arise from having generic policies can be recognised and reduced. 5. It looks like they have disbanded their in-house first policy. Whilst this is really good for improving matching, I'd like to have heard more about how the placement procedures work given they have both framework and non framework providers. I'd really like to have seen provider representation on the panel. Especially someone with expertise in trauma informed practice who has experience of using the tool and of working with commissioning and procurement arrangements. For me that's a missing, yet vital, part of the picture. "Step Down" (mentioning this as it's a bugbear of mine).. I would have much preferred it if the term "step across" had been used. "Step Down" really doesn't doesn't align well with trauma informed ways of working and does't recognise how, for a child, the move to a family based setting can be an enormous challenge and an achievement. To end on a positive.. it's really good to see conversations happening in the open about commissioning for looked after children. I also really value the emphasis on early intervention and effective transitions. I'm also really pleased to hear there are plans for some online shared learning events and am hoping to be able to join some of the discussions. Getting heads together to have meaningful discussions is the way to making the change that children need. https://lnkd.in/e45Rk4q4
