Senior Enablement Occupational Therapist at Hertfordshire County Council. Supporting older people maintain or improve their independence and quality of life by providing personalised interventions.
Day 3 #FestivalOfPractice Hertfordshire County Council Adult Care Services. It was great to hear from David Coolbear our Strategic Lead for Assistive technology and Shan Kilby, Senior Assistive Technology Practitioner, talking about Assistive technology (AT) in comparison to telecare. #Preventative vs #Reactive The AT team seem to have the same approach to AT as I do to Occupational Therapy. Before social care workers look at providing care packages; think about OT. As OT’s we promote #Independence helping people stay #Safe in their homes for as long as possible, without having to rely on care workers ‘doing’ everything for them. Joint working with AT as well. We give #Reassurance provide #CostSavings - relational and transactional. We take on a preventative approach to care and support rather than reactive. There is so much we can do. Do you know the #ValueOfOccupationalTherapy?

Hilary Casey, Chloe O'Connell, Olivia Wall and Sarika Kaushik utilised the Change Guide poster presentation to demonstrate how they recognised a need for change and improvement within their service. See how they used the Health Services Change Framework poster presentation template to help guide them as they defined, designed and delivered the improvement outcomes. Join #OccupationalTherapyAssistant & #FutureOccupationalTherapist Stephanie as she reflects on her favorite OT moment: "My first year as an OT Practitioner in outpatient peds, I had a parent call me about a month in to working with their child to tell me that her four-year-old had climbed the stairs independently for the first time in her life due to the proprioceptive activities we had been doing in our OT sessions.
