Such a great feature by Northstar Meetings Group highlighting the top cities to hold a convention in with #Chicago taking the top spot for North America and #Shanghai for Globally. However, I can't help but think where Royal Caribbean Meetings, Incentives and Events and the #CruiseIndustry would come in if scored??? - Total exhibit space - Check we have Promenades, Multi-use Ice Rinks, Flexible 3 story Dining rooms. - Total hotel rooms - We have ships with up to 2800 rooms and we can do multiple ship charters at once. - Average hotel cost - We come in at or below the average, but don't forget our rates include #Breakfast, #Lunch, #Dinner and #Snacks. - Minutes to Airport - Cruising and Airports go together like Bert & Ernie - Total flights in May - Enough to service all our ships and more. - Safety Score - I can't think of anyelse where you know 100% of the attendees are there exclusively for your program and they have all been scanned along with their luggage!!! - Final Score - I think we would easily end up in the top 10!! What do you think??? Maybe you should be adding cruising into the mix also?? https://lnkd.in/euJ6T4vY

“Events are the only industry where things usually run according time and to budget.” When you think of how much money is wasted in government spending, delayed construction works, and over blown budgets, it is quite miraculous how amazing events can be when the majority of them run exactly how they are planned. No matter what type of event there is, events all start on time and usually are to budget. This is despite changing environments, unforeseen spontaneous issues, inflation and surges in supply chain costs, to name a few. How does this industry do it? - Meticulous planning - Backup, redundancies and plans for the unexpected - Relationships with reliable suppliers - Excellent Communication - The ability to remain flexible - Knowing how to stay calm How do you plan for the unexpected? How do you rise to occasion? To all event professionals out there… keep it up, you’re awesome #events #eventmanagement #eventmanager #eventproducer #eventproduction #producer #thoughtoftheday

CRE research professional and head of a national commercial real estate research platform for Newmark in Canada providing thought leadership, operational excellence, team building and market insights
Challenges related to travel logistics, undersized facility space and inadequate surrounding amenities thwart convention business at provincially operated venues in Toronto and Ottawa, Ontario’s acting Auditor General, Nick Stavropoulos, has concluded. His newly released value-for-money audit charts the waning competitiveness of the Metro Toronto and Ottawa Convention Centres among similar facilities in other North American cities, reported REMI Network.com's Canadian Facility Management & Design. "Audit findings show that MTCC lost 23 bids between 2017 and 2019 due to insufficient nearby hotel space and OCC was rejected for seven events scheduled between 2022 and 2026 because of the limited number of direct flights into Ottawa International Airport. As of June 2023, MTCC registered a 44 per cent decline in bookings relative to the years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, while OCC had dropped 50 per cent from previous levels." https://lnkd.in/dQmgdYCm #ontario #convention
