Utrecht is calling, Conscious is on its way! 5️⃣ Conscious Hotels is stepping into new territories — and not just any. In the spring of 2025, the 5th Conscious Hotel will open in the former pop temple Tivoli Oudegracht, in Utrecht (The Netherlands), known for hosting legendary concerts like Pearl Jam in 1992 and Prince's surprise show in 1998. 🏨 This 46-room boutique hotel will open right in the middle of Utrecht’s city center, overlooking the city’s oldest canal. 💋 And in true Conscious style, we’re putting the eco next to sexy. We’re upgrading the building to Energy label A+, outfitting the interior with recycled and upcycled furniture, and serving exclusively vegetarian and organic products. #EcoSexyBigSmiles. 🎶 All while preserving the historic charm of the building, like the stained-glass elements, and the monumental fireplaces in some of the rooms. Right in the heart of Berlin, at the Motorworld Manufaktur site, we are witnessing this shift. By 2025, the Titanic Hotel Group intends to introduce a designer hotel with a unique twist: it's based on 27 m2 sea containers, transformed into 77 luxury hotel rooms. This ambitious endeavor isn't just about recycling and reusing materials. It challenges and reshapes our traditional views on design and construction. Blending industrial charm with modern luxury, this hotel is setting new standards for urban accommodations. At the heart of this inventive complex will be a 500 m2 restaurant with a terrace overlooking Spandauer Lake. By adding a conference hall and providing ample parking spaces in a location outside the city, concept like this quickly becomes an ideal gathering place for business professionals. It makes it perfect for meetings, promotions, conferences, and similar events. Given these features, the hotel easily qualifies for a 4-star rating. Retreat in the forest. The inaugural post of this new year is devoted to one of our passions: hotels. We actively seek out establishments worldwide that distinguish themselves through innovation, creativity, architecture, design, and the distinctive experiences they offer. While I haven't had the opportunity to explore the Nordic countries recently, the Panorama Landscape Hotel and Forest Spa demanded attention: a tranquil retreat nestled in the Finnish forest, featuring a novel hilltop hotel in eastern Finland with a sauna on stilts and minimalist cabins. Rintala Eggertsson Architects, a studio based in Norway, has adeptly crafted structures that seamlessly integrate with nature rather than disrupt it. Notable examples include the Arctic Hideaway in Fleinvær and Safe House in Kalsholmen. Located on a forested hilltop in Eastern Finland, the site boasts captivating views of the inland lake landscape. To preserve the site's inherent qualities, the program has been subdivided into smaller volumes strategically positioned among the existing trees. The spa experience is intricately connected to interactions with nature and weather: visitors can luxuriate in a warm bath and sauna surrounded by nature, then cool off in the snow and brisk air. This interplay between temperatures and the outdoors, with steam rising from one's body, lays the groundwork for an authentic Finnish sauna experience. The project consists of three elements: a lighter and more social restaurant, a darker and more intimate spa, and ten standalone cabins thoughtfully placed within the forest to offer the most captivating views. The primary issue was the absence of clear regulations to categorize extended stay hotels, a unique segment straddling the line between conventional hotels and residential apartments. Key challenges included navigating residential versus commercial building regulations, securing operational licenses, devising tax efficient structures, addressing legal issues, and adapting to cultural differences - all integral to expanding into each new country.
