This time I want to acknowledge Thule Group for their ability to see challenges, and the courage to be first, and lead the way by introducing innovative solutions. Thule Group is a brand that's not afraid to disrupt the market, especially the stroller market. Strollers have gone through a long series of improvements, to be more comfortable, lighter, more agile, and more compact, but this market has not seen big leaps of innovations in a long time. Therefore it's great to see the Thule Shine among the best prams and pushchairs of 2024 together with many other great brands, in this article by The Telegraph. The Thule Shine however offers a truly Unique Selling Point - air purification, powered by Bubl. To protect children from air pollution during a sensitive and crucial period of their lives, when in a vulnerable situation, moving around in a big city or close to busy streets. #innovation #cleanair #airpollution #strollers #getbubl Sara Berggren Beatrice Råvik Janzon Mattias Ankarberg Magnus Welander Wilfred Learned, IV Erik Klim Petri Markkanen Bo Selerud Magnus Ling Marcus Asplund Rob Allen Alex Richard Lium MUMS FOR LUNGS Kevin Bovet Chris Ritchie Ariana Stover Erin Simon Clean Air Fund Mayor of London https://lnkd.in/d59SZ8FK

Did you know that air pollution exposure during pregnancy and early childhood can have a negative impact on brain development. There is a growing body of research showing more and more correlations between air pollution and negative health and developmental effects in children. The pregnancy and first years of life being the most vulnerable periods. Here’s a link to an article in EMJ, highlighting a recent study from Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), supported by the Fundación ”la Caixa”, looking at air pollution and its effects on brain development. Utilizing data from 1703 females and their children in four Spanish regions and estimating their daily NO2 exposure as a proxy indicator for traffic-related pollution. Evaluating children aged 4-8 on their attentional function and working memory through computerized tests. They found that the first 2 years are the most vulnerable ones, resulting in poorer attentional function in children aged 4-8, particularly in males. Attentional function plays a pivotal role in developing the brain’s executive functions, governing actions, thoughts, and emotions toward achieving goals. The prefrontal cortex, responsible for these functions, matures slowly during pregnancy and childhood, making it susceptible to air pollution exposure. This is of course worrisome, but it provides us with useful data, creating a foundation on which future studies can build, looking at the long-term effects of air pollution. To cite the “Clear the air for children” summary by UNICEF: “Reducing air pollution is one of the most important things we can do for children”. #airpollution #cleanair #childhealth #healthydevelopment #greatstart #innovation #getbubl Bubl. Only seven countries manage to meet the World Health Organization guidelines on air quality according to a new report by the Swiss organization IQAir: First in Air Quality. The countries are: Australia, Estonia, Finland, Grenada, Iceland, Mauritius, and New Zealand. Amazing news! And the general air quality has improved over the last decades. Unfortunately, a lot of the improvements are under threat due to the increased number and size of eg wildfires that spew toxic smoke across continents. Also, as stated in the article below in The Guardian from earlier this week, there are no safe lower limits to air pollution exposure. Especially for vulnerable individuals like pregnant, children, the elderly, and people with preexisting conditions like COPD or asthma. Air pollution is still one of the biggest threats to our health and development. This is why we exist, to help and protect the most vulnerable individuals from harmful air pollution. Creating a safe space with clean air where you need it, wherever you need it. #airpollution #health #cleanair #innovation #getbubl Erik Klim Petri Markkanen Bo Selerud Marcus Asplund Magnus Ling Marko Macura Bernd Fischer Daniela Giesen Natalia Trylska John Hartan Jesse van der Leeuw Eraldo Munari Matthew Reichardt Markus Wenzel Javier Tortajada Carrasco Kai Henning Lisa Schlegel Baptiste Chaussignand Sara Berggren Mats Rydsund Peter Dabek Nick Goodwill Simon de Jong Ryan Griffiths Funda Sezgi https://lnkd.in/dERxpGCT

Hello spring! In Sweden and many other parts of the world, nature is waking up again after the winter slumber. The sun is coming back and with it both warmth and greenery. However, for many, it can be a troublesome time. Because this is also the season when air quality gets worse due to dust. It's the beginning of the pollen season which can be really difficult for all the people suffering from allergies, rhinitis and, asthma. It's also the season where we see a lot of viruses and infections spreading rapidly. In many places in the world, we're also looking at the potential start of the wildfire season that will affect millions of people and their health due to the smoke which has a huge impact on air quality. This is why we developed the bubl technology. Personal, portable air purification that creates a safe space for the user, wherever you are. Whether it's a child in a stroller moving around in a city, or at home sleeping in its crib. Maybe you want a safe space in your office, free from airborne viruses, air pollution, and pollen to give you a good working environment where you can feel safe and stay healthy. Maybe it's a safe space when traveling by car, train, or airplane, or to make sure you breathe clean air while you sleep. Thanks to bubl and our revolutionary technology, we're able to create this safe space, delivering clean air where you need it. Guaranteeing an incredibly high level of air purification. As you can see in the film below, up to 95% cleaner in the breathing zone, and you can put it to the test and compare. Because this is measured where it matters, without the need for encapsulation, without draft or disturbing noise. If you're interested in our technology, how it works, or how it could add both value and functionality to your company's already great products. Children at about half of Sweden's daycare centers are exposed to harmful levels of air pollution. Alarming news indeed. For everyone of you who doesn't speak Swedish, this is news based on calculations made by the Swedish Public Radio, Sveriges Radio, using data from eg. the Swedish Meteorological Institute, SMHI, which makes it possible to look at air pollution even in the city block level. We all know that children are the most sensitive and vulnerable to the effects of air pollution. Many of the affected daycare centers are situated close to busy streets, and primarily in cities. How does it look where your children or grandchildren spend their days? It's important that we take action to protect these individuals from the harmful effects of air pollution, in any way we can. It's all about reducing the levels of air pollution. From high-level interventions like legislation to city planning, looking at the traffic situation, positioning of daycare centers and schools, all the way down to ways of reducing exposure for the individual who might need even more personal interventions due to eg preexisting conditions. We need to look at a mix of these different interventions. Some can make a difference today, while some will come into effect months or even years down the line. This is something that we work with every day at Bubl. Creating personalized solutions to guarantee a good quality of air, which is important for health and development, while simultaneously working on collecting useful data on air pollution to help legislators and city planners in their work towards clean air for all. #airpollution #childhealth #cleanair #innovation #getbubl Petri Markkanen Erik Klim Bo Selerud Magnus Ling Marcus Asplund Alex Richard Lium Frida Eik Öhman Karin Neuhaus Kristina Sparreljung Johanna Westergård Jenny Kölfors Erik Melén Jenny Fors Johanna Sörstrand Thule Group Anna Throne-Holst Helene Willberg Breakit VTI, Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut Mats Gustafsson Mats Rydsund Kevin Bovet Astma- och Allergiförbundet Astma-Allergi Danmark Anne Holm Hansen Norrsken Funda Sezgi Erik Engellau-Nilsson Anton Svensson Niklas Adalberth https://lnkd.in/dha9i5gn

Great article in The Guardian referring to two articles published in The BMJ this week. Looking at the correlation between exposure to fine particulate matter and risk of hospital admission due to cardiovascular disease. It's easy to understand the correlation between exposure and respiratory diseases, but air pollution, and especially fine particulate exposure, is responsible for so much more when it comes to how it affects our bodies. Even though we would see great health benefits if we were able to reach the World Health Organization recommendations, the studies conclude that there really are no safe levels of particulate exposure. This is of course even more true when looking at vulnerable groups like pregnant, children, the elderly, or people with preexisting conditions. That's why we need to do what we can to protect these groups here and now. There are available technologies that we can use to give them the best conditions for a healthier life, while we simultaneously work towards global solutions with clean air for all. #cleanair #airpollution #particulatematter #childhealth #innovation #getbubl Erik Klim Bubl. We're in the season when air quality takes a turn for the worse. I realize that more people need to know about air pollution, what it does to human health, and why it's important. Therefore I recommend you take 1 minute and read through this well-written fact sheet on air pollution and your health by @State of Global Air (Health Effects Institute, and Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies, Clean Air Fund, and William and Flora Hewlett Foundation). It's even available in several languages. Read it, contemplate, and share it again so that more people can read about it. Because it's when people know and recognize the problem, that they're able to do something about it. Both how to protect yourself and vulnerable individuals from it, and hopefully start thinking about what you can do to make a change toward clean air for everyone. #airpollution #health #cleanair #innovation #getbubl #airpollutiondata Erik Klim Petri Markkanen Bo Selerud Magnus Ling Marcus Asplund Marko Macura Jesse van der Leeuw Kai Henning Marloes Koenraads David Prchala Peter Dabek Rafał Sykuła Pedro Coelho Christoph Maier Erik Engellau-Nilsson Martin Pos Lisa Schlegel Lukas Jaeger Andrea Cebrián Rick Muller MSc Eraldo Munari Natalia Trylska Oliver Beger Bernd Fischer Bob Reiche Axel Jane Martin Boyle Ryan Griffiths Monica Mantovan Matthew Reichardt Jordi Dorca Pujol Funda Sezgi https://lnkd.in/dQSvhVef

Do you know what's in the air you're breathing, or what your child is exposed to when living and moving around in a city? This is something that we at Bubl. are currently investigating. By analyzing the filters themselves, sent in by our users, we hope to contribute to a greater understanding of what you're actually exposed to in a city environment. When using a babybubl in your stroller, it purifies the outside air where you are to create a microenvironment of clean air around your child. We hypothesize that the filters themselves are acting as personalized measurements, and hence a receipt on how the air that the child would otherwise be exposed to actually looks. So how does the air look? In filters from users who have primarily been walking around in the central parts of Stockholm, the filters could reveal a disturbing composition of harmful substances. Some of them are listed below. - Lead - Quicksilver - Arsenic - Chromium - Vanadium - Cobalt - Cadmium Even though many of these substances don't really have a safe lower limit, at least lead was found in greater concentration than recommended by for example the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket). An interesting start to this investigation, and we hope to be able to deliver more insights further down the road. If this sounds interesting, and you want to be part of this or contribute in any way, just send me a message so that we can talk more. #airpollution #whatsintheair #health #childhealth #innovation #getbubl Erik Klim Petri Markkanen Bo Selerud Magnus Ling Marcus Asplund Erik Melén Frida Eik Öhman Rob Allen Karin Neuhaus Astma- och Allergiförbundet Hjärt-Lungfonden Karolinska Institutet SLB-analys, Miljöförvaltningen, Stockholm Stad Mats Gustafsson IVL Svenska Miljöinstitutet RISE Research Institutes of Sweden Christoffer Andresen Torbjörn Jonsson Alexander Danielsson Funda Sezgi Niklas Adalberth Alex Richard Lium Heather Adair-Rohani Abraham Thiga Mwaura Samantha Pegoraro World Health Organization MUMS FOR LUNGS Clean Air Fund
