This Summer has been an incredible whirlwind of growth and learning, and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. I usually down play my accomplishments, but I recognize that juggling a full-time internship at Visteon, my first time as Programming Lead at Wolverine Soft Studio, and a linear algebra course was no small feat. I can proudly say that I emerged from the other side stronger and more capable than ever.
At Visteon, I had the privilege of immersing myself in real-world projects and gaining invaluable insights into the world of the Automotive Industry. As the Automotive Industry begins to explore using Game Engines for HMIs, Visteon is quick to follow suit. This granted me the opportunity to work with and familiarize myself with not only Unreal Engine 4, but also the Godot Engine. With UE4, I worked to recreate already existing HMI to test and compare the performance. With Godot, I worked to create a KTX File Importer for the engine. Both projects granted me the opportunity to learn not only technical skills, but also to collaborate effectively in a work place environment.
My role as Programming Lead at Wolverine Soft Studio was nothing short of inspiring. Leading and working along side a team of talented individuals improved my teamwork, leadership, creative thinking, and problem solving skills. The thrill of seeing our collective efforts come to life was incredibly rewarding, and I can’t wait to take on this position again in the Fall!
On top of all of this, I took on the challenge of a linear algebra course, which alone may not seem like much, but between my other responsibilities, it certainly tested my time management skills. Navigating this academic endeavor alongside my other commitments was a reminder that dedication and perseverance can lead to remarkable achievements.
My summer of learning has set the stage for a thrilling journey ahead. Looking back, I have no regrets about embracing this hectic schedule. My triumph this Summer has led me to not only better understand my abilities, but reassure myself that if an opportunity is presented before me, I should be excited to succeed with it (within reason of course). As I move forward, I’m excited to apply these newfound skills and insights to new challenges and opportunities.
Also… another super cool part of this Summer was getting a kinda cameo appearance inside of Wolverine Soft’s newest game, Celloseum!
Steam release coming soon… but for now, enjoy Rin Sharpe ‘s character work for the game!
