A few weeks before school starts, get your child into the habit of going to bed earlier 2. Establishing a consistent routine is important for kids. Write out the steps and rehearse them with your child. 3. Back to school is the perfect opportunity to re-establish screen time limits. Why not have the whole family “unplug” in the evenings before bedtime? 4. Daily, age-appropriate tasks will help your child gain independence and confidence. As kids get older, their attention span grows....Thank God, right?! For example, a 10yr old can attend to an activity for about 20 -30min and a 15yr old can pay attention for approximately 30-45min at a time. Still, this can be overwhelming when you have a whole room of 10yr olds for 90minutes at a time! WE HAVE A SOLUTION!! Movement Breaks! Everyone can use movement to reset their attention span clock. Younger students need adults to read their cues and suggest movement activities that will be most beneficial. Older students can learn how to make choices to regulate their own body. But movement, non the less, is absolutely the answer!!
