#Philanthropy
Yesterday I embarked on a trip to Primary and JC schools at #Radisele village. It was on an assignment requested by a silent supporter of the BlAkCANVAS Movement, who has a deep sentiment and painpoint about the village.
Upon arrival at both schools, I sat with #Teachers in the Guidance and Councelling Department, who had received me warmly despite my dusty sneakers, to have a back and forth about where they are and how we can work together.
It was a necessary experience, humbling, fulfilling to say the least. We spoke about a number of things within the scope of what the BlAkCANVAS Movement stands for, and what I can offer within my own capacity.
It marked a journey that's yet to be embarked on and documented accordingly.
Getting into that TeePee bus and walking those trails to sit and engage in a conversation with those teachers, has stirred up in me and desire to say this to whoever needs it:
"It's in places outside our normal, where out eyes get opened to how important what we have to offer is.
It's where you hear, "you came at the right time."
It's in places we don't usually go to, where we see how much of a necessity we are and not just one of many options.
In those places, where that suggestion or offer, is an answered prayer to whoever you're making it to."
I deliberately sent out connection requests to every one on whose bio was, "unemployed" or "currently seeking employment". I did the same with people associated with NGOs and Philanthropic causes. Same goes for highly accomplished professionals.
While some interactions were on the rocky side because of difference in uncommunicated expectations about approach, some were quite fruitful.
I reached out to all and navigated best as I can, because what I extend out, caters to the human being beyond the title, and extends hope and encouragement to the hopeless.
While, around the city, where logistics are friendly and Money comes quicker, could seem like the only option to knock and keep knocking, you should know here's space for everyone out where the majority don't go.
To the unemployed with the idea. Ti those from whom we seek support for our cause:
"The idea isn't to break your account and get Grand. It's to use what we have and give it to those who need it, which in almost all cases, they do, desperately.
The idea is for there to be a ripple effect. A cumulative. A word of mouth, that will speak on your behalf until you receive the calls rather than knock until you lose faith."
To Everyone: Getting out of the normal is an uncommon balm to unspoken painpoints. It usually doesn't sound convincing enough until you actually get immersed in it.
Consider it.
Journey with Us.
