Here’s our latest piece on Nebraska’s new scholarship tax credit program, focusing on the scholarship granting organizations that enable taxpayers to claim a tax break for their donations. If this reads as convoluted and not very transparent, well, that’s because it is. Nebraska’s constitution doesn’t all state funds to go directly to private schools. So the proponents of so-called school choice use a mechanism that at it’s heart is a tax dodge. We need transparency on where state tax dollars are going, and the reporting requirements in this program don’t offer that.
OpenSky continues its look into LB 753, the bill creating private school scholarship tax credits in Nebraska. Part 4 explores the organizations that will be certified to accept donations and award scholarships. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gCnKp2kR
