I'm excited to talk about how Cyber Essentials certification can play a big role in helping nonprofits get the money they need to do their important work. When nonprofits get Cyber Essentials certified, they show they're serious about keeping their data safe and protecting the people who support them. And that can make a big difference when they're asking for money. Here's why Cyber Essentials can help nonprofits get funding: 1️⃣ People Trust Them More: Donors and funders like to support nonprofits that take cybersecurity seriously. Getting Cyber Essentials certified tells people that the nonprofit is doing everything it can to keep their information safe. 2️⃣ They Stand Out: When nonprofits apply for grants or ask for donations, having Cyber Essentials certification makes them stand out. Non-profit organisations face significant cyber threats, in part due to them possibly holding lots of valuable data for criminals to go after, and a perception that they are an easy target. Do they have sufficient technical knowledge and tools with which to protect themselves? We work with a number of charities ensuring they're as well defended as our commercial clients. We make sure they're making best use of technology through the generous 'Tech for Social Impact' (#TSI) donations and offerings of major providers such as Microsoft. I spent a day at Microsoft HQ recently (organised by Pax8 - thanks 🤔 Nathan Stokes 💭), re-capping in detail the security capabilities of the bang up-to-date tools Microsoft provide at low (or no) cost to non-profits.
