Continuing with the introduction of our partners, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft based in Germany answers our Q&A today. ❓𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗵𝗼𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗦? 👩🔬🔬 The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is the world’s leading applied research organization with a tremendous variety of research fields. This is reflected in a wide range of maritime and marine research areas - from shallow water to the deep sea. Thereby, Fraunhofer is creating a balance between marine protection and economic use. This benefits Innovation Platform Sustainable Sea and Ocean Solutions ISSS in fields such as environmental monitoring, energy generation, disposal of munitions and the prevention and reduction of marine pollution. Extensive test equipment and appropriate test beds are integrated into the practice-oriented research and development infrastructures like the Fraunhofer Digital Ocean Lab underwater test field. ➡https://lnkd.in/evYQBw3C ❓𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺? 🌍Exchanging ideas and knowledge is crucial when it comes to global threads such as #ClimateChange and its accompanying symptoms occurring in our oceans. Applying this in an established platform, enables an efficient and fast workflow whereby the involved partners are complementing each other. The international collaboration is especially valuable for us and facilitates an increased contribution to a sustainable #BlueEconomy driven by the European Union. ❓𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲? 🌊Our oceans become more and more important to produce energy, food and raw materials. To avoid exploitation of natural resources and the environment we must learn and know more about this still very unknown ecosystem before we make use of them. Therefore, one of our approaches is to develop technologies for automated underwater assessment and to draw on that with sustainable solutions for a better #MarineProtection while profiting from its resources. ➡for more info www.fraunhofer.de #Synergies #Researchinstitute

Check out my first article on Forbes just released as Forbes Technology Council member! "Navigating The Seas Of New Technology" --> https://hubs.li/Q02mRQpF0 In this piece, I share that by following these #five #navigational #tips the journey of #newtechnology #development can sail towards commercial success, charting a course for a brighter and more sustainable future. Here are the tips in summary: 1) embracing #risks and #innovation Amy Edmondson has emphasized the importance of #psychologicalsafety in enabling teams to take risks and drive innovation. It's all about taking calculated risks, learning from failures, and creating a safe space for organizations to drive innovation forward. 2) leveraging #systems #engineering principles, Ellen D Williams highlights that understanding the interactions between various components and optimizing their integration is key to developing effective and sustainable climate technologies. By adopting a systems engineering approach, organizations can identify inter-dependencies, optimize performance and ensure seamless integration of new technologies into existing infrastructure crucial for the successful development of climate tech low TRL programs. 3) establishing a #rigorous #program #management approach The program manager, acts as the captain, steering the project toward success by aligning the efforts of engineers, scientists, policymakers and investors. Its strong collaborative effort with the Technology and Product leaders ensures that all aspects of the technology development, from research and development to commercialization and deployment, are well-coordinated and contribute to the achievement of set goals. 4) prioritizing #speed and #scalability Publications such as "Exponential Organizations" by Salim Ismail emphasize the need for organizations to adopt scalable and adaptable frameworks to thrive in rapidly changing environments. Designing technologies that can scale efficiently ensures their viability to meet growing demands, much like a ship that can accommodate an expanding cargo. 5) fostering #collaboration and partnership Collaboration and partnerships are akin to creating a crew that works in harmony. By bringing together diverse expertise, sharing knowledge and cultivating strong collaborations, the development of new technologies can harness collective intelligence and drive progress toward a sustainable future, just as a united and skilled crew enables a ship to navigate challenging passages and reach new horizons. #NewTechnology #Innovation #ForbesArticle #TechLeadership
In this article, we will delve into five key principles as navigational aids to succeed in this exciting and challenging voyage of new technology development Read more: https://hubs.li/Q02mRQpF0 Post written by Rosalba Carandente, Ph.D., Forbes Councils Member.

Interesting morning side event at the UN Ocean Decade conference. Technology and innovation showcase - a side event organised by the Schmidt Ocean Institute and supported by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST). The event consisted of a series of pitches and reverse pitches against a number of the ocean decade challenges by innovators. The reverse pitches talked about the need for technology innovation. Each pitch was limited to 3 minutes they were followed by a panel discussion The innovation pitches ranged from Fugro communicating how it is decarbonising its oceanic research shipping vessels, to the Ocean Data Network showcasing how it is leveraging fishing vessels for depth measurements to expand the global ocean observing network. The reverse pitches included Wildaid Marine Programme advocating for tech innovations in Marine Protected Area (MPA) enforcement, emphasising the need for accessibility, scalability, and practicality; to Ocean Visions seeking ocean based solutions to climate change and helping them with the four R's [Repair, Remove, Reduce, Reach] The panel discussion (including Ralph Rayner - IMarEST Fellow) emphasised the importance of innovation, funding, and data utilisation in addressing ocean challenges. Collaboration across sectors was highlighted as crucial for accelerating progress towards a sustainable blue economy - in particular the need to communicate to non- scientific communities, and the need to move more rapidly was also emphasised. #IMarEST #OceanDecade #Technology #Innovation 🌊🌏

D’accord, pas d’accord ou à moitié, le manifeste de Marc Andreessen (vous vous souvenez de Netscape Navigator ?) sur le techno-optimisme paru mi-octobre ne vous laissera sûrement pas indifférent. « Our civilization was built on technology. Our civilization is built on technology. Technology is the glory of human ambition and achievement, the spearhead of progress, and the realization of our potential. For hundreds of years, we properly glorified this – until recently. I am here to bring the good news. We can advance to a far superior way of living, and of being. We have the tools, the systems, the ideas. We have the will. It is time, once again, to raise the technology flag. It is time to be Techno-Optimists » https://lnkd.in/eE5Ymux5
