Minister van Velden taking about her plans for health and safety reform. Some confused thinking and lots of hedging - ‘look at the evidence’. However some valid points about how WorkSafe target their efforts and the need for greater clarity about what good looks like (or compliance as she continues to refer to it). The upcoming consultation process will be a real opportunity for those of us who study the evidence and understand the complexity of the system to put our views forward #NZISM #BLHSF #healthandsafetyreform

In 2017, the Law Commission estimated that approximately 53,000 people in England and Wales could require a Court of Protection Deprivation of Liberty (CoPDoL) order. With the delay in implementing the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS), Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) face even greater challenges concerning CoPDoLs, their scope, and the demands on an already stretched system. It's highly likely that this figure has grown post-pandemic. One of the most significant risks for any ICB is not knowing the extent of individuals under their care who may be deprived of their liberty. This uncertainty can have serious consequences. We offer comprehensive services to triage your CoPDoL caseload, ensuring that all CoPDoL11 applications are correctly submitted to the Court of Protection for authorisation. We also conduct reviews of your CoPDoL processes and policies to guarantee continued compliance with the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Reach out to us today to discover how our support can strengthen your ICB's CoPDoL applications and processes, whilst ensuring that individuals receive the care and support they need. https://lnkd.in/eUFUkkMJ Tricia ODonnell Dr. Samuel Gower Elaine Hatch #Courtofprotection #Depravationofliberty #COPDOL #Safeguarding #LibertyProtectionSafeguards #COPDOL11 #Healthcare #HealthcareServices #IntegratedCare #HealthcareCommissioning #HealthcareReviews #PersonalisedHealthcare #HealthcareQuality #HealthcareAssessment #HealthcareTeam #Humanrights #Bestinterests #NHS

"One consistent frustration of the safety sector is that much effort is expended on collecting data; however, there is not enough time dedicated to analysis and sense-making [19]." (Source: https://lnkd.in/gvyMdtTz) In "Unsafe care in residential settings for older adults: a content analysis of accreditation reports", the authors analysed data from Site Audit Reports conducted by the ACQSC as part of the accreditation process. The article prompted two thoughts: 1- Does accreditation lead to better quality and safer care for residents in aged care? 2- We collect large amounts of data, but we need to analyse this information. This can help us understand if accreditation provides improved outcomes, and where we need to focus for quality improvement. This is not to say that I do not support accreditation of residential aged care providers and facilities. Accreditation needs to be more than 'ticking a box'. We need to do better, analyse the data we have and continue to collect, so that we ensure the accreditation model leads to better outcomes for residents. #agedcare #quality #safety #compliance

A CHW Employer just asked, how can they get their CHWs certified? If your an Employer or a CHW, maybe you have the same question? As CHW experts in Nevada, we have the answer 👇: Certification and getting a certificate of completion are two different things. Taking and passing an 8-week training gets you a certificate. The Association calls it an Educational Credential, CSN calls it an Certificate of Completion. At this point you are not certified yet. After completing a training, you would need to go on the Nevada Certification Board website to CHW Certification, then create an account under and fill out an application. There are two applications. One is to become a Certified CHWI (1) which you only need to have passed your 8-week class to qualify and pay $75. The other application is to become a Certified CHWII (2) there are several requirements you’ll need to meet before being qualified for this higher level Certification (please see website). A CHWI certification is $150 along with meeting the requirements. Why get certified you ask? 👉🏾You will be recognized at the state level, and go into a database like every other regulated field (Nursing, CNA, etc). 👉🏾Employers will and should pay you more for your expertise. 👉🏾This distinguishes from the thousands of CHWs that are out there. There are only a hundred or less Certified CHWs in the state of Nevada at this time. 👉🏾You get to use the acronym ‘CCHW’ which is Certified Community Health Worker on your resume and on your LinkedIn profiles as recognition to being Certified. Become a Certified CHW Today! https://lnkd.in/gG_EVcsy
