👉🏼 Creating a customer centric design culture This is the great talk I've had the pleasure to see thanks to the Two Beer Ideas and hosted by David Loughlan. Raff Di Meo from Doddle - Part of Blue Yonder shared with us how he has established a customer-centric design approach in his company. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- As a UX Designer, the aim is to better understand customers' problems in order to create innovative products and helping the company to grow in design maturity ❓ But how can we do it in a company where design is just desining nice stuff ? By showing that the design can be part in a biger scope and can have a business impact ! Here are the 4 main steps to follow : 1. Plan 🖥 Focusing first of all, on the product (individual screens) by using usability tests in order to improve the product aesthetics. It is the basics but it is key. 2. Engage 👥 Develop relationships with coworkers : not only your PM & ingenneers, which are essential but with other departments, such as the sales and marketing. They do have mines of users' feedbacks but their own experiences are also valuable and can be treated as a user interview. These relationships will enable to build stronger links to each other, but also improve customer satisfaction by solving their reel problems. 3. Inspire 🔎 As a UX Designer, you know the impact of user research but your CEO doesn't really undestand it and thus underestimate it... Then, apply user research in a smaller project and without asking anyone. The time comes where you present your solution : explain the results and how you have done it. This will enable to show concretrly how research can be powerful and, at the end, impactful on the revenue. It might to be asked to apply it in your bigger projects and that's the objective ! 4. Overshare 🗣 Communication is key, so it is the important to share everything you've done with your team, to the whole company (by creating sprint demos, slack channel, team meeting, reports...). Everybody has to know what is going on with the products, how it evolves. Of course, it can be timeconsuming but it can be, in a first time, simply presented with post-it "that worked" vs "that failed" and your solutions. 🎯 This strategy will enable you to show the value of the design and grow its culture in the company, and as a result, generate more budget to do more research.
