Here’s what you need to know: Modular blockchains have specific specializations for given functions. Celestia aims to solve core scaling challenges blockchains face today without sacrificing decentralization. As more transactions happen, the information on transaction execution grows, making it more expensive to run a full node. Celestia solves this by decoupling execution from consensus ↔️ It also introduces fraud and validity proofs that light nodes can execute to verify block contents without downloading all the data. But what about proving the absence of a transaction? Celestia introduces data availability sampling for this — a mechanism that allows light nodes to verify data without needing to download the entire block data. This allows Celestia to safely increase block size as more light nodes join the network. TLDR: Celestia’s design choices enable any developer to build and deploy their own blockchains as simply as they would build and deploy smart contracts — fostering innovation, flexibility, and creativity.
