Wargame Designer and Analyst

"Wargames Save Lives"-Whose Lives? Thrilled to present at the Connections2024 #wargaming conference alongside my teammate Sarah Agyapong about civilian causalities and wargaming. We had a great discussion with the community during the Q&A. Audience had great ideas and questions about ethics, mechanics, data sets, and operational dilemmas. Proud to bring work pioneered by folks like my colleague Larry Lewis to a wider audience. Plausibly & usefully depicting civilian causalities is key responsibility as designers & analysts given its operational and strategic implications.

CNA Corporation’s wargaming team has developed cutting edge approaches using wargames to help solve some of the world’s most challenging problems. I am thrilled that Andrew Olson and others are now devoting their efforts to helping to develop solutions to the all-too pervasive problem of civilian suffering in war. Our decades of analysis (https://www.cna.org/expertise/civilian-harm) shows that militaries can do better. These wargames help us to put “better” into practice.

Sadly I couldn’t make it to Connections US this year. Is it possible to get a copy of your presentation?
