What a great week in MD and DC! It was such a pleasure to see spend time with some of our patient care teams who are so passionate about PATIENTS! (Thank you MOA Chevy Chase, Whitten Laser Eye Chevy Chase and Washington Eye.) It was also very valuable to invest time together as a leadership team working on how we can provide optimal support to the passionate vision care providers at Vision Innovation Partners during the second half of 2024. (How is it July already?!) We were able to enjoy some great weather at a game watching the Baltimore Orioles and witness the weekly (and scary exciting) sailboat races in Annapolis! I’m thankful for this team. Michael Pascetta Amanda Smith, MBA Elisa Chadwick Rhonda Buckholtz Vickie Bierman Michael Dunn James Vaughn

We’re all sailors. Whether solo or with a crew, we’re navigating the seas and winds as we seek to make port or round the last buoy to cross the finish line. While there’s certainly a lot that goes into seafaring skill, outlook determines outcome––the critical question being: What kind of sailor are you? Are you “[t]he pessimist [who] complains about the wind; the optimist [who] expects it to change; [or] the realist [who] adjusts the sails[?]” as William A. Ward describes. The most common capsizes occur when people manage complex matters, especially when relying on less experienced crew with whom they haven’t previously worked or perhaps only barely know. Sailboat racing teams consider “time in the boat” together as essential for smooth execution of tactics – so should you. It’s better to check for seaworthiness now rather than bail water furiously as soon as you leave the dock. 🎖 Our team recently took on the challenge of the 20-obstacle 5K Spartan Race at Fenway Park, and what an exhilarating experience it was! Amidst towering walls, stairs, and personal fears, we discovered a newfound strength within ourselves and as a team. The race wasn't just about conquering obstacles; it was a testament to our commitment to continuous improvement. As we navigated each challenge, the quote "Don't wish for it to be easier, wish you were better" resonated deeply. Every obstacle served as a reminder that our journey isn't about seeking an easier path but about becoming stronger and more skilled to conquer the challenges ahead. Together, we proved that with resilience and a supportive team, we can overcome any obstacle in our path. 💪 #SpartanRace #Teamwork #Resilience #ContinuousImprovement #McKenzieConstruction

The Workplace Human Value Disruptor⚡️Holistic Workplace Empowerment Coach I Consultant | Speaker. Facilitating company-wide breakthroughs that take the transaction OUT of business and put the HEART back into business.
Returned from a day at the horse races, and I’m truly inspired by the power and grace of these incredible animals. Watching them in action, I was reminded of key lessons that apply to both life and business. 1. Drive and Determination: Horses run with unwavering focus, embodying the determination needed to achieve our goals. In business, maintaining that drive, even in the face of challenges, is crucial for success. 2. Preparation and Training: Just as racehorses undergo rigorous training, we too must continually develop our skills and knowledge. Consistent learning and improvement are vital to staying competitive and reaching our full potential. 3. Perseverance: A horse may encounter obstacles, but it keeps moving forward. Similarly, resilience and persistence are essential in overcoming setbacks and driving progress. Feeling motivated and ready to tackle new challenges with the spirit of these magnificent creatures! Let’s channel their energy and determination to achieve our goals. 🏇💼 #Leadership #Inspiration #BusinessLessons #Perseverance #Training #Endurance #ContinuousImprovement #horse #racing #racehorse

It's Celtics Time!!!! Living in Boston for 37 years (but who's counting), and drinking the water that the magic elves treat at night with the color green, I am truly celebrating this championship. It has made me ask the question, "How did they do it? Why didn't they buckle under pressure? And what can we learn?" My answers are in this piece below. https://lnkd.in/eCQtiWjr

Turning Setbacks into Success: The Resilience of Lewis Hamilton In this remarkable video, we witness Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton facing a challenge that would unsettle even the most seasoned of drivers. Hamilton inadvertently stops at the wrong pit crew, a potentially race-altering mistake. However, what truly sets Hamilton apart is not the mistake itself, but his remarkable response to it. As the video unfolds, we see Hamilton's swift acknowledgment of the error and his immediate action to rectify it. With unwavering focus and determination, he quickly navigates back to his own pit crew, minimizing the impact of the setback and keeping his race strategy intact. This moment serves as a poignant reminder that setbacks are inevitable on the journey to success. However, it is not the setbacks themselves that define us, but rather how we respond to them. Hamilton's ability to remain composed under pressure and turn a potentially disastrous situation into a mere blip on the radar is a testament to his resilience and mental fortitude. #Resilience #OvercomingObstacles #Inspiration #LewisHamilton #SuccessMindset

The last boat ride of the season!⛵️ Now when the summer is about to turn into cold rainy days, Jonatan reminded us of our amazing boat trip earlier this year and had a presentation about the America’s Cup. A race with a rich history, technical innovations and a lot of invested money. 👀 Key facts gathered: - It’s the oldest international competition in any sport, debuted in 1851.👏 - The sport also holds the world's longest winning streak, between 1865 to 1983. Until Royal Perth Yacht Club finally managed to win over the Americans.🏆 - In modern times, a competing team invest around $100 million on their boat, with a record of $300 million year 2013. 💦 - With time comes new technology. The boats have gone from being big and reaching around 11-13 knots, to being nimble and reaching up to 30-40 knots. Sometimes twice as fast as the actual wind speed.💨 #organization #sthlmstratlab #growth #teambuilding #stratlab #management

This year has been highly anticipated for Truro Raceway in the small town of Bible Hill, Nova Scotia. The track, like many others has struggled in recent years. The big change for Truro this year was the addition of General Manager Steve Fitzsimmons. He had most recently been GM of Hanover Raceway in Hanover ON and chose to make the move to the East Coast after tremendous success in Hanover, improving the product and the handle. As we hit the half way mark in the Season, it's time to reflect on how it's going. Truro recently put out this graphic to show the increase in handle so far this year vs last. 139.4% increase is nothing small. But it's also just a drop in the bucket for what this small track is capable of. This summer has been a rainy one, and the Grandstand is only partially open and there is no restaurant or licenced area to drink. This should be rectified by Summer 2024. Although we cannot predict the weather, having a large indoor space will allow people to enjoy the races and give them something to do if it is a rainy Sunday. What has been happening so far this year at Truro is exciting, and I can't wait to see what the remainder of the 2023 season brings and what will happen in future years here at Truro Raceway. #horseracing #harnessracing #business #profitability #growth #potential
