Is there anyone out there willing to defend the use of timesheets in consultancy? Everyone who’s worked in the world of consultancy has suffered the pain, stress and tedium of having to fill out a weekly timesheet, accounting for every hour of their working week. And anyone who’s worked in management knows that timesheet entries are essentially a creative work of fiction that everyone diligently creates each week. The phrase 'you can't book to that job - we've overspent on it already' tells you everything you need to know about the absurdity of timesheet systems. So why would anyone choose to implement them in a business? ❌Waste of time ❌Unnecessary stress ❌Results in a heap of extremely unreliable data Why not… ✅Empower your staff to work efficiently ✅Give your staff autonomy ✅Trust them to get the job done Can anyone give me a good reason why 95% of consultancies still insist that all their staff fill out a weekly timesheet?

Who remembers good old paper timesheets?? When we set up Marks Consulting Partners 8 years ago, this is what we used. We thought we would save some money at the time and go back to what people had always done before timesheet portals. It was simple… Candidates used to print off a blank time sheet every week, put it in front of their managers face to check and sign off and email over to us to pay. It was simple and efficient and to be honest most people absolutely loved it. Not saying there is anything wrong with online timesheets. I personally think they are great. Do you remember paper timesheets? If so, what did you prefer?
