🌍 **Facing the Climate Crisis: A Mother's Call to Action** 🌍 Greetings LinkedIn community, I stand before you not just as the founder of Earth Gives, but as a mother with a burning urgency in her heart. I share this message to ignite a collective commitment to safeguard our planet for our children and generations to come. As a mom, I admit that I started late. The climate crisis wasn't on my radar nearly as much as it should have been. I wasn't as informed as I needed to be, and that realization hit hard. But, fellow parents, I also know that giving up is not an option. I refuse to let my children inherit a world marked by environmental degradation, resource depletion, and the catastrophic consequences of inaction. Our kids deserve the chance to thrive in a world teeming with life, vibrant ecosystems, and the awe-inspiring wonders of nature. 🌿🌺🌳 This is why I founded Earth Gives, a nonprofit born out of a deep sense of responsibility and determination. Earth Gives is not just an organization; it's an aspirational effort to build a caring community that will rally with and for environmental nonprofits. Together we can build a strong, interconnected ecosystem of nonprofits working relentlessly to combat climate change, promote environmental sustainability and adaptability, and inspire meaningful solutions. Resources are needed and yet on this most consequential issue, the numbers don't line up. Support for environmental causes account for just a meager 2% of charitable giving and .5% for environmental justice work. This needs to change. Earth Gives Day is a signature initiative—a dedicated time for giving and engagement spanning 25 days. We believe that by providing a platform where supporters can discover, learn, and contribute to various environmental nonprofits, we can amplify their efforts. It's about boosting that 2% and propelling it towards a more impactful figure. Just today I had the good fortune to talk to nonprofit leaders in New York who work to protect nature and the Great South Bay on Long Island, another from Florida working on alternative food options and a shift to more plant-based offerings, and yet another in Tennessee leading on the integration of circularity and those in need. So what is the #ROI on their work? We're here to spark connections, to educate, and to encourage the embrace of the many volunteers and staff members working on the frontlines through "for impact" organizations and the power they bring to our own survival. What a gift they give to us...and we don't even know much of what they do. We can all step in as "earth givers" to stitch together our change-making powers. Your actions DO matter. Together.   P.S. Philanthropy in climate is a hot 🔥 topic. Climate philanthropy may solve the issues with the carbon removal industry but some things stand in the way. That's what Adam Fraser from Terraset joins Silas Mähner 🔍🌎 and I to chat about on our latest episode on the CleanTechies Podcast 🚀 Funders are perhaps as complicated if not more complicated than investors - although they are similarly "investing" 💰 into a solution, their objects are often more varied than the returns-oriented motivations of most investors. Compounded by the marred history of carbon removal, it's often hard to find alignment and conviction.
