The holidays will be over and we'll be left with the giant that is climate change. Now that most of the people are in their native homes for the holidays, what better time to reach lots of people including our families about climate change. The thing is, most people really don't know the science behind it, or what to do about it really. #climatefresk is the way to begin.
During the holiday season, the world keeps uniting in a colorful mosaic of Climate Fresk workshops! This is just a small reminder that humanity should develop so-called green energy and reduce CO2 emissions. “One of the main and fundamentally guiding laws of life is the conservation of energy principle, which means that energy is neither created nor destroyed, but just changes forms…” #carbondioxide #co2emissions #co2 #co2reduction #renewableenergy #greenenergy #energy

The Aral Sea, once one of the largest bodies of freshwater in the world, is disappearing because of climate change and decades of mismanagement. This is the third in @AP climate's series on the area, which is a hopeful story of life starting to pop up amid desolation. By Victoria Milko and Ebrahim Noroozi https://lnkd.in/diPYpWE2

Focus is marine conservation but everything is connected. We cannot apply tunnel vision. Ask if externalities for solving Y create problems for X. Tries to apply humility and curiosity to solve 6th mass extinction
This is just brilliant - not only was it 2/3 women, who know the importance of thinking long term and protecting the planet and their future children and grandchildren, but a joyous strong occasion demonstrating a WILL for change. I hope Swiss parliament take this action seriously. We don't have time. For a quick reminder : The ocean is warming due to increased fossil fuel burning. Even though so far from Switzerland (yet so connected) it has been absorbing our excess energy generated by our anthropogenic heat to the tune of 7 Hiroshima bombs per second. Without it, the average surface temperature, which is currently around 15°C, would instead be around 50°C. Switzerland has experienced one of its hottest average summers on record. Ocean warming, deoxygenation and acidification are increasing exponentially. Swiss glaciers have lost 10% volume in 2 years. Scientists say due to climate breakdown caused by the burning of fossil fuels. Just this week I was shocked to be offered bonds in the following with ratings of BBB to A+ (who is rating these?) BAT CAPITAL CORP - tobacco (Dr Bronwyn King AO!) EXXON MOBIL CORPORATION (oil and gas) WELLS FARGO & COMPANY - h SYNGENTA FINANCE AG Something is rotten in the State of Switzerland!
