What an unexpected honor to be recognized by the Charlotte Business Journal. I have been a part of the #novanthealth team for the entirety of my 17 year career in healthcare. The ODYSSEY new physician and APP onboarding and leadership development program started with my realization that the way I had been welcomed to the organization; “welcome, check out this CBL, here’s your pager, good luck, call if you need anything” might not continue to serve as the healthcare landscape became increasingly complex. Most importantly, I was witnessing the negative impact of this changing complexity on a daily basis on my new and existing provider colleagues. What to do? We needed to #transform the way we onboarded and engaged our new providers. I had a belief from my years as a division 1 athlete that building a team culture amongst our physicians and APPs could be part of the way forward. And I shared this belief and this vision with lots and lots of my teammates. I discovered that many of them shared the same belief and the same desire to make things better for the people coming after them. In 2015 a small group of us delivered the first ODYSSEY program to 12 new physicians. Fast forward 9 years, the addition of over 60 fellow leader faculty and together we have welcomed over 1500 new physicians and APPs to our organization. I am so grateful to have this opportunity to walk in my purpose to create the space for connection, exploration and evolution in my day to day work. When we are in the grind of our daily challenges in life and work the way forward may lack clarity or direction. It may feel like one person, one belief and one vision cannot make a difference.
