It’s a Wrap: Day 3️⃣ of #BESummit24 ends with landmark announcements, a ‘triple win’, Tony Blair, the Prince of Wales & Cleantech for Europe out in full force It was a busy start of the day, kicking off the session ‘The Road Ahead’, alongside Secretary John Kerry; John Doerr, Chair of Kleiner Perkins; Kerstin Jorna, Director-General of DG GROW, European Commission, and Rich Lesser, Global Chair of the Boston Consulting Group. In my remarks, I explained that emerging clean technologies are good for #climate, #security and #competitiveness – a ‘triple win’ and an opportunity not to be missed. 🇬🇧 Given that our Summit took place in the UK – and in the days leading up to the election – it was a particular pleasure to welcome former Prime Minister Tony Blair who took part in a roundtable organized by new UK Director, Jon Fuller, examining how to leverage private capital for the energy transition. This was followed by a walk-through of the Innovation Showcase. But nothing made me more proud than our Energy Resilience Leadership Group helping to incubate deals that will lead Europe to decarbonize, whilst strengthening security and bolstering (re)industrialization. Two were announced in the margins of the Summit: 🤝 The EU Catalyst partnership is providing €75 million to Rondo Energy for three deals in Europe - in Denmark, Germany and Portugal – using its innovative ‘heat battery’ to replace industrial processes based on fossil fuels. Huge congrats to John O'Donnell, Eric Trusiewicz Christopher Sorensen Miguel Stilwell d'Andrade. See press release: https://lnkd.in/eVEf3rFi 🤝 Electro-thermal #ldes company Malta Inc and BBVA have signed an MoU to develop a discharge power offtake power purchase agreement (PPA) supporting  the deployment of Malta’s energy storage technology. Huge congrats to Ramya Swaminathan Antoni BALLABRIGA Kendra Rauschenberger Jeannine Sargent. So much of #BESummit24 was about reflecting what’s been achieved since the organization was first founded in 2015. I had similar reflections about Cleantech for Europe which we helped get off the ground and which now has several satellites: Cleantech for Nordics, Cleantech for Baltics, Cleantech for France, Cleantech for UK, Tech for Net Zero (D), Cleantech for Iberia and our latest addition, Cleantech for Italy. Meeting its leaders was a true privilege and made me realize how far we’ve come in past years. Huge praise and recognition to Jules Besnainou who has done an outstanding job of leading a pan-European movement to give a voice to cleantech entrepreneurs and investors. Last but not least, what better way to wrap up the Breakthrough Summit with an Earthshot moment: No other than His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, provided a last call to action to make this the decade of action in combating climate change. It was a moving and special way to conclude what was by all accounts a superb and successful summit #gratitude

Congratulations Ann Mettler for a very interesting and high profile summit. We hope there is more to come - to accelerate cooperation between start ups and incumbent companies - to solve some of the most challenging task on our way to net zero.
