Goodbye, former Professor Laura Mullen. You expressed your sympathy with Hamas’ barbaric October 7th attacks. “Academic freedom” does not mean no consequences for immorality. Academics continue to tarnish their own brand. So out of touch. So pathetic. Mullen ironically expressed that she felt like a “victim” because Wake Forest University didn’t stand by her. Good job Wake Forest University for distancing yourself from another immoral, broken professor. Former Professor Mullen. You’re broken. Go fix yourself. _______ “So it’s kind of a Duh, but if you turn me out of my house, plow my olive groves under and confine what’s left of my family to the small impoverished state you run as an open-air prison, I could be tempted to shoot up your dance party, yeah, even knowing you will scorch the Earth,” she wrote, according to the Winston-Salem Journal. The university told the Journal that while it “affirm[s] the right to individual freedom of expression,” the “posted comments caused significant anxiety and fear for members of our community. And to be clear: statements that diminish the value and dignity of human life or condone the use of violence are counter to the values inherent in the Pro Humanitate ethos of Wake Forest University,” the university said. https://lnkd.in/ehFbHpUt

Yo Buy Our Songs and Support Our Kids Education Kumul Genius is the platform we are rolling out to keep our kids in school, to support our parents and focus on our kids as the only way our country will prosper and grow. This is a song I wrote and got someone to compose and sing, for the Teacher who saved my life: Go here to buy for just $1. https://pngjive.com/ The Teacher that Saved A Lost Boy’s Life ____________________________________________________ This is a story, I never tell. But I dont know if she and the tolai science teacher are still alive. I hope this story finds them. ____________________________________________________ When I was 14, I was at Hagen Park High School in Mt Hagen. I wasnt a great student and outside of the classroom, I was turning into a bad kid. I was causing alot of trouble and doing things I shouldnt be doing. I was actively thinking of leaving school and choosing a life that would have caused the people who loved me, alot of heartache. I was incredibly lost. One day there was a fight in school. I was the only kid suspended. They suspended me for four days, while they made a decision. When I came back they said I was suspended for another few days and then I was on punishment for two terms. When I came back to school, even though I was on punishment, I was still acting up. One day that first week back, during the practical skills class the teacher sent all the kids out of the classroom and told me to wait cause he wanted to talk to me. It was then I learnt that they had decided to expel me and recommend that other schools in hagen think twice about taking me. What happened next changed the course of my young life. The little Milne Bay English teacher stood up in the staff classroom and threatened to resign if they expelled me. Her name was Ms Takon. The tolai science teacher, Ms Mudian, backed her up. Two teachers, one lost kid. I can tell you the other teachers didnt like me. I ignored the principle and deputy principal openly during school hours, I challenged teachers, I caused issues in town, I just caused problems and was getting worse. After the teacher told me what Ms Takon did for me, I left his class stunned. The science teacher, Ms Mudian saw me walking past her class and called me in. I think she could tell I had just found out what they did for me. She told me to get my act together. I could tell she was mad at me but was trying to control herself. I just nodded my head. She looked like she wanted to slap me. I left her class and walked to the English teachers office. She was in and her door was open. I knocked and waited outside. She came and stood and looked at me. I could see the fear in her eyes. She was scared of me. All these years later, I can still see that look. Yet, she had basically saved my life. CONTINUES IN COMMENT

At any level of the educational system, this approach is useful. I focused on Valiant's song, "Dunce Cheque," this year and tried to relate the lyrics to topics we were covering in class. What ensued was a lively discussion, plus students also emailed me their interpretation of the song and had the motivation to read the book "Scammer's Yard" by Jovan Scott Lewis. If I can get them to read a book, then I have sparked their curiosity. That is the goal of teaching! https://lnkd.in/ei2DMVU7

(The truth usually does.) "It’s over! The Cast." (What cast?) "..." (Yes, and?) ________________________________________ When I was in the 6th Grade, I was worried about the move to Junior High, that the bullying and teasing would increase. I was told it would get better. It didn’t. While I didn't ideate upon suicide, I did think about it, and running away. This is when I really started to bike and walk a lot. I asked my parents to send me to a boarding, fine arts, or military school. Both told me it would be just as difficult, if not worse, and besides, I would be missed! When it was time to start High School, I was again told it would get better. It didn’t, at first, but then got a little better towards senior year. On visits to area colleges, I encountered the same bullying/teasing that I did in my hometown and thought, just where am I suppose to go? When I am made to feel unwelcome, it touches nerves that lead back to my childhood and teenage self. I’ve always managed to hold on in the hopes that it will get better—I'm still holding on. ________________________________________ The Ides of March*** with its historical and mental images of befriending and betrayal, knaves and knives, plots and plans to change trajectories of paths and worlds, use to alert me that I can be superstitious. I’ve had reason to delve into the topic recently only to learn that in Ancient Rome, ’the ides’ simply refers to the middle of a month as a measure of days before and after, a day when citizens were meant to have settled financial debts, a day to honor and worship Jupiter! It is a challenge to separate the idea of the ides from acts of betrayal, starting with the most infamous in 44 BCE, that of Marcus Junius Brutus betraying Julius Ceasar. (NOTE: I do not identify as either.)**** ________________________________________ How nice then this Ides of March is now associated with something more positive and uplifting for youthful creatives! One of the critical concepts in hands-on practical way of teaching is constructivism. Constructivism is a theory of learning that suggests that learners construct their own knowledge and understanding from their experiences and interactions with the environment. Constructivism supports hands-on practical way of teaching by encouraging students to explore, discover, and create their own meaning and solutions.
