As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we wanted to highlight these great digital shareables courtesy of National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), designed to help spread the word about mental health resources for those in need. https://lnkd.in/etSFjGsS Mental Health Awareness Month was established in 1949 to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in Americans' lives and to celebrate recovery from mental illness.

There are probably undiagnosed cases among us. These are people who are likely not receiving help. How can the SG Mental Well-Being Network help? There are people in the community who are undiagnosed and have yet to receive support for their mental well-being. The SG Mental Well-Being Network (referred to as the “Network”) helps to reach out to these individuals through a strong and collaborative network of mental health and well-being partners within the community. The Network consists of mental health and well-being organisations and proactive members of the society who are passionate about extending the outreach and educational efforts. One of the key efforts of the Network is our ground-up initiative, known as the Well-Being Circles (WBC), which have been set up in the community, to gather passionate individuals and partners in the mental well-being space to look after their own mental well-being as well as that of others. #standtogetherforMH #mentalhealth #mentalwellbeing #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters

Around 1 in 5 people aged 16–85 in Australia experience a mental health disorder yearly (ABS 2022). It's time to rewrite the narrative that there is nothing we can do to help the state of mental health issues presenting in the community! 🗣️💚 By envisioning a reimagined mental health care system, we unlock the potential to empower communities, provide education, and provide early support to hold space for those in need. 🤝🌈 What we can do is equip our communities with resilience-building techniques and foster healthy mental habits to ignite transformative change! This might not be a quick-fix solution but it can help with the growing demand for support of people in need in the community 🔥💪 🌱💚 Want to know more? Reach out and ask us how we contribute to a movement to support mentally healthier communities. We're here to make a difference! 🙌💙 #ChangeTheConversation #MentalHealthMatters #CommunityEmpowerment

Today is R U OK? Day, an annual event that serves as a poignant reminder of the power held by simple human connections. In the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, it's easy to forget that sometimes, people around us might be struggling. R U OK? Day is not just another date on the calendar. It is a movement aimed at promoting open conversations about mental health. A simple "R U OK?" can make a world of difference, creating a space for people to share their challenges openly and honestly. 👥 Why It Matters 1️⃣ Destigmatise Mental Health: Conversations can help break down the walls of stigma associated with mental health. 2️⃣ Promotes Support: When people feel supported, they are more likely to seek professional help if needed. 3️⃣ Fosters Community: The sense of community is strengthened when we take the time to check in on one another. 🎯 How to Participate 1️⃣ Ask the question: Approach someone you think may need support and ask, "R U OK?" 2️⃣ Listen: Give them your full attention and allow them to share as much or as little as they want. 3️⃣ Encourage action: If they are struggling, encourage them to seek professional help. 4️⃣ Follow up: Make plans to check in with them again. A promise to follow up can make all the difference. 🔗 For more resources, visit R U OK? Day's official website. 🙏 Let's take a pledge today to look out for one another, not just today but every day. Because every day is the right day to ask, "R U OK?" #RUOKDay2023 #MentalHealthAwareness #Community #Support

🌿 May is Mental Health Month! 🌿 This month, we are shining a light on the importance of mental health. Mental well-being is just as crucial as physical health, yet is often unaddressed. We all can help to break the stigma and open up conversation. Here's how you can get involved: 💚 Educate Yourself and Others: Learn about mental health issues and share what you learn. 💚Check In: Reach out to friends, family, and colleagues. Sometimes a simple "How are you really doing?" can mean the world. 💚Practice Self-care: Prioritize your well-being. Whether it's reading a book, taking a walk, or meditating, find what makes you feel good. 💚Support Mental Health Initiatives: Participate in events, donate to mental health organizations, or volunteer your time. #MentalHealthMonth #EndTheStigma #MentalHealthAwareness
