Leveraging international days and building relevant creatives around it can decrease CPAs, lower impression costs, and improve ROAS dramatically.  Reading this article made me think about strategy. International days allow brands to connect with their audience and get more attention from the user in the vast sea of banners and videos.  This unique approach makes us work harder in the design team to create many creative styles for every special day. But it is worth it! For example, we implement it with a few of our #gaming clients, and we can see a drastic positive change in the player cost every time. Sometimes, it decreases the CPAs by more than 40% (Depending on the day).  We are making a different set of creatives, even for the “silliest days,” like leprechaun day. 😊 It’s a good idea for your marketing strategy. 💡 I have a list of all the US International days. Last Monday I hosted the monthly Creative Cakestorm event for professional creatives. We discussed how to price products and services as a creative business - because it can be difficult to price creative work. It was an animated discussion, so much so we overran. Last year, I spent days judging in diverse creative competitions—ranging from the national 'The Best of the Year' to the European region's Lovie Awards and the global Webby Awards. This made me think: why bother? "People don't care about awards until they win," one of my ECDs once said. Ad competitions are draining: late hours in the office filled with fear that critics will tear apart our ideas, craft, and us. There's always someone dismissing them as beauty contests or corrupt small-circle parties where only "woke" ad stunts get prizes. So, are they worth it? For me – hell yes. For two reasons.   1. Winning, or just receiving a nomination in a competition, is like that pat on the back from your distant Finnish dad who last held you in the maternity ward. Our advertising world is mentally taxing. Ideas get shot down more often than they're approved. Yet, you're expected to bounce back with increased enthusiasm. And at times, feedback is served in a vague hamburger format or sprinkled with "I'm just being brutally honest" paralyzing glitter. On top of that, "What is a good idea" can sometimes be a matter of who has the loudest voice. In this environment ad people suffer an ongoing deficiency in recognition and validation. Yes, even those tough seniors. We need that dopamine from ad competitions to help us bounce back the next time our ideas are shot down like it would be a national sport. 2. You grow professionally. Doing case films and submissions is a brutal self-reflection. Your fun personality doesn't qualify as results in the Effie form. Nor does your initial brilliant decks qualify for materials in case videos. You are faced with your creative solutions – is the craft really that good? Does the story hold up? Does it work in the medium? It was a fantastic feeling when our video, which I hadn't seen in a while, made me tear up. And humbling, when we realized our campaign will not succeed in front of professionals.
