It's natural to resist changes before they seem essential. Many seniors and their caregivers delay moving to senior living with the thought, "I don’t need help right now." However, transitioning sooner rather than later can offer significant benefits. Enjoy community activities and friendships without the pressure of needing immediate care. Take full advantage of facilities and programs, maintaining independence longer. Access to health screenings, nutritional counseling, and fitness programs can prevent the need for intensive care later on. Consider a proactive move for a richer, more secure lifestyle in your later years. Read more about the advantages of early transition. Click the link! https://lnkd.in/gibXKj_D

We are learning from the research that sitting is the new smoking. That a sedentary lifestyle can lead to different health conditions, including 112 percent higher risk of diabetes. The sitting guidelines used to be 2 minutes of movement for every hour of sitting. Now the guidelines have changed to 3 minutes of movement for every 30 minutes sitting. Set your alarm at your desk to get up, walk around and stretch. Share this with your loved ones, especially your kids in school to remind them to move while studying. What do you think about these guidelines? 👇🏼 If you’re ready to prioritize your self-care, avoid burnout and reclaim your time & energy, comment ‘SELF-CARE’ below and I’ll send you my FREE Self-Care Masterclass directly to your DM. Did you know that cultivating positive relationships and #socialconnection is essential for optimal health and wellbeing? In 2010, Julianne Holt-Lunstad, PhD published a large meta-analysis linking #socialisolation and mortality risk. These findings were confirmed in a follow-up study published in 2015 showing that people with strong social connections are 50% less likely to die prematurely - regardless of the country, cause of death or gender of the individual. Earlier this year, the US Surgeon General released an advisory on the #healing effects of social connection. Cultivating social connection can help reduce our risk of #cardiovascular disease, #diabetes and #dementia. Simple things we can do to improve our #relationships and social connectedness include: * Talking to our children about the importance of social connection * Minimizing distractions while engaging with others in conversation * Reaching out to people from diverse backgrounds * Modeling kindness and collaboration * Participating in social and #community groups * Teaching #healthcare workers about the benefits of social connection You can access the entire report, including the proposed national strategy to advance social connection here -https://lnkd.in/gvGCK4zi #integrativemedicine #positivepsychology #healthoutcomes #onehealth #healthequity #interprofessional #collaboration #collaborativeleadership #workplacewellbeing #diversityandinclusion #publichealth #populationhealth #mindbodyconnection #medicaleducation

🔘Benefits of Physical Activity for the Elderly As an older adult, regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. ✓It can prevent or delay many of the health problems that seem to come with age. ✓It also helps your muscles grow stronger so you can keep doing your day-to-day activities without becoming dependent on others. Keep in mind, some physical activity is better than none at all. Your health benefits will also increase with the more physical activity that you do. 📌Adults aged 65 and older need: At least 150 minutes a week (for example, 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week) of moderate-intensity activity such as brisk walking. Or they need 75 minutes a week of vigorous-intensity activity such as hiking, jogging, or running. At least 2 days a week of activities that strengthen muscles. Plus activities to improve balance, such as standing on one foot. If chronic conditions affect your ability to meet these recommendations, be as physically active as your abilities and conditions allow. Help your aged ones today get their health back, retiring young and strong is possible. ©THE EBENEZAR INITIATIVE
