It’s #GrandparentsDay2023 and we looked into the interesting regional differences in the names that we call our grandparents. At a national level, the most popular name for British grandmothers is Nan (33%) followed by Grandma (32%) and Nana (24%). Looking at grandfathers, Grandad (68%) is by far the most popular, with the second most common name being Grandpa (22%). Unique nicknames for this generation are twice as likely to be used for grandfathers than grandmothers. Some of these include Boo, Mimi and Nanan for grandmothers and Pa, Papa and Captain for grandfathers. Interestingly, one-third of Brits address their grandparents by their first names. #PositiveAgeing #Grandparents #Family #GrandparentsDay

Celebrating the fathers in our lives—those who set solid examples to guide us. These are people who embody the strong, masculine principle that drives for results, strives for attainment, and thrives in independence. We also believe that great fathers embody feminine principles as well, nowadays—caring, nurturing, and collaborative. We, as a society, are not whole without both sides. (Same for individual people!) So today, we honor and celebrate all the qualities in our fathers. There is a reason why religions talk about Father God. The role of a true father is someone who forms the strength we can rely upon, the underlying foundation we can trust as we take our first steps, the shelter we can come back to in a storm, the protector who will always support us and love us. Our consultant tells us that if everyone in the world had a father like hers, 99% of all the problems in the world would be solved. Thank you to all the fathers and father-figures who strive to meet that type of ideal. Happy Father’s Day. Celebrate the gift of life and relationship you received from your father. Thank him or if he is gone, spend time reflecting on the gifts—even the painful ones that have made you the wonderful person you are. Take the gift of you even further, commit to using this gift of life and relationship. Get tips from our blog, or contact us for a complementary 15 minute consultation. https://lnkd.in/gbm2zWW5

#Juneteenth marks the end of slavery in the United States, commemorating the emancipation of the last enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865. This historic day serves as a powerful reminder of the resilience and strength of my ancestors, whose perseverance and courage paved the way for future generations. As a Southern Black woman from Houston Texas, I am deeply proud of my heritage, which profoundly influences my identity and values. The legacy of my ancestors is a constant source of inspiration, motivating me to honor their sacrifices and contributions through my work and everyday actions. Understanding the depth of my roots instills in me a sense of responsibility to continue their legacy of resilience and resistance. Their stories of struggle and triumph shape my worldview and fuel my passion for justice and equality. From the plantations of the South to the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement, their journey is intertwined with the broader narrative of American #History—a narrative of resilience in the face of adversity, and triumph against all odds. This profound connection to my heritage drives me to uplift and empower others within my community, ensuring that their voices are heard and their stories are celebrated. It inspires me to advocate for systemic change and to fight against injustices that continue to impact marginalized communities today. In celebrating Juneteenth, we honor not only the end of slavery but also the ongoing struggle for true freedom and equality for all. Together, we continue the legacy of resilience and resistance, forging a path towards a future where justice and opportunity are accessible to every person, regardless of race or background.
