Currently, there are at least 36,000 vacant positions along with at least 163,000 positions being held by underqualified teachers [in the US].] ESL, Math, and Special education are where these deficits are most pronounced. Teachers and administrators need efficient, easy-to-use structures and systems that make their jobs easier, so they don’t get burnt out and leave, not laws that increase the amount of compliance and work required. Airlanguagelearning.com gives time back to teachers rather than taking it away. https://lnkd.in/gkQf_RVH

I am a Passionate Educator| Tutor| Certified Jolly Phonics Educator| Reading Specialist| English Grammar Tutor. I help learners gain confidence in their Literacy Skills using my strong command of Jolly Phonics.
When I see young learners, what comes to my mind next is, how is this child doing academically? I ask myself that question immediately. I feel how I wish I could know. Then what do I do next if I have access to the child at the moment? As a passionate educator, I call the child, then, ➡️ Greet him/her ➡️ Sit the child down if there is a place to do that at that moment. ➡️ Ask first how school is, make the child smile, tell the child he/she is handsome/beautiful, and joke around. ➡️ Let the child know I'm a teacher and not someone who wants to hurt him/her. ➡️ Then I ask the child what they had been taught at school that day. ➡️ Watch how he/she can express himself/herself, figure out if the child could answer the question I asked, and listen. ➡️ After assessing the child on that, then I ask the child's age & class. ➡️Listen and watch the child answer these questions again. ➡️ Moreover, as a Jolly Phonics educator and Reading Interventionist, if I find out that the child is lagging in his/her literacy skills, then I assess the child again in that area. ✅ I am on a mission to make learning enjoyable for learners ✅ Help learners from ages 3 and above gain mastery in Reading, Spelling, and Writing. Note: A great deal of learning today depends on *reading*because it has to do with other aspects of learning(be it comprehension, maths, etc) I remain your humble tech-savvy educator, jolly phonics tutor, reading specialist, and English grammar teacher. #Ayomide Oluwatosin A. #techsavvy #educator #teacher #mission #vision #jollyphonicspro #readingspecialist #grammar #founder #brightlearnerstutors

Founding Editor at Gilt-Edged Services || English Language Teacher || Transcriber || Academic Application Reviewer || Author, The Mechanics of Standard English
As you look forward to resuming educational activities for the 2023/2024 academic year, let's consider some likely expressions deployed around education. 1) I am a student of Excellence Secondary School.❌ I am a student at Excellence Secondary School.✔ In English, you are a student "at", not "of", an educational institution. However, one can be a "student of" a subject or course (for tertiary institutions), while one is a "student in" a department or faculty (for tertiary institutions). She is a student of mathematics, English language and geography.✔ She is a student in the commercial department.✔ 2) What class are you?❌ What class are you in?✔ The former sentence is wrong because someone is "IN" a class; someone is not a class. 3) She is an SSS 2 pupil.✔ If you are of the opinion that "pupil" should be used for children at primary schools while "students" should be used for children at secondary schools, you are mistaken. A pupil is simply a child being taught at a school, so the sentence above is perfectly correct. 4) You are very correct, John.❌ This statement is wrong because "correct" is an absolute adjective, and such an adjective does not usually accept the modifier/intensifier "very". As such, we have: You are totally/perfectly/absolutely/completely correct, John. ✔ 5) She is blocking my view.✔ If you have ever taught your pupils or students that it is impermissible to "block" someone's "view", it is high time you stopped it. According to English collocation, the sentence above is absolutely correct. By way of alternative, you could say: She is obstructing my view.✔ She is obscuring my view.✔ 6) My daughter schools at ABC Nursery and Primary School.❌ So long as "my daughter" is not a teacher, the sentence above is incorrect. The rationale behind the foregoing is that "school", as a verb, means "teach". Thus, the sentence should be correctly recast in the passive form as this: My daughter is schooled (is taught) at ABC Nursery and Primary School.✔ Furthermore, we have these: My daughter is schooling at ABC Nursery and Primary School.❌ My daughter IS BEING SCHOOLED at ABC Nursery and Primary School.✔ My daughter schooled at ABC Nursery and Primary School.❌ My daughter WAS SCHOOLED at ABC Nursery and Primary School.✔ As a teacher, though, you could say: Mr Simon schools (teaches) SSS 3 pupils.✔ 7) My teacher gave me three homeworks from an educational software.❌ The general reader should note that "homework" and "software" are uncountable nouns, so we have this: My teacher gave me three pieces of homework from educational software.✔ 8) My son is at school.✔ My son is in school.✔ Indeed, both are perfectly correct. The former sentence is British English, whereas the latter sentence reflects American English. 9) Stop making a noise.✔ Stop making noise.✔ Both sentences are correct; the choice is yours to use noise as either a countable noun or an uncountable noun.
