This industry isn't for everyone, and the demand for skilled operators is high. If you post a job requiring multiple licenses and I can make more money with a single one of those licenses, you probably should reevaluate that job description. This is specifically for the jobs that want dual water/wastewater licenses and CDLs, etc. #wastewatertreatment #wastewatertreatmentsolutions #wastewatertreatmentplant #operationsandmaintenance #waterindustry #water #sustainability #work

This is for technicians facing some of the most pressing industrial water treatment concerns. Traditionally, water treatment chemicals would be pumped into the system from 55-gallon drums, and these delivery systems can leak, spill, and splash, causing safety hazards that lead to risk and liability. Managers and Supervisors need to implement administrative and operational procedures that control chemical risks and hazards for all workers. The G-C SolidTracⓇ Water Treatment system resolves these concerns with a space-saving solid chemical solution that gradually dissolves into the system as needed through a mechanical, non-electrical, but fully-automated system that a technician can easily control. With Garratt-Callahan’s certifications and more than a century of deep expertise in commercial water treatment, we have created a solution that improves regulatory compliance, environmental impact, and safety. Last week, I mentioned the importance of commercial laundries, particularly in relation to how little the average consumer might think about them. In another field, #wastewatertreatment and #stormwatermanagement are also vital parts of our lives (and if we're being honest, like a referee in sports, we usually only notice them when something goes wrong). Like fresh towels in your hotel room from the commercial laundries example, stormwater management and wastewater treatment don't just happen magically. They require many talented, dedicated people working together, leveraging data and science, and studying the impacts of their efforts over time to tweak their approach as needed. In the article below, Dober's Angela Espy reviewed some research, utilizing data from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, that analyzed water management practices on water quality in several bodies of water in the Chicago area. Learn about that and more, including some helpful tips on how to improve wastewater/stormwater management techniques:
#Wastewater and #stormwater management are critical functions in our lives. While it can seem like a monumental task to treat such volumes of water, it is possible (and seasoned #watertreatment professionals can make it look easy). Not only is it possible: it works. Dober Laboratory Technician Angela Espy reviewed long-term water treatment efforts by local authorities with respect to the Chicago River and how such water treatment practices can yield success stories. She also offers some recommendations to improve your water treatment practices: https://hubs.ly/Q02lQDP00

Meet Richard Smith, an Electrical Technician I in the Solid Waste Department. He has worked for the City of Tampa for 35 years and loves that his position requires the scientific know-how behind what makes a compactor with a hydraulic system work and how to fix it. What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen on the job? A fire started in a compactor I was working on due to lithium batteries and gun bullets being dumped into a compactor. As you can imagine, some people throw away items that should not be discarded in a compactor because they can cause great danger. Solid waste professionals can come across more hazards in just one day than most would realize. What do you like to do in your free time? I love playing hockey, ice hockey, and soccer - and working on construction projects. Most recently, my step-daughter had a baby so on the weekends, I am a full-time grandpa! Where’s your restaurant in Tampa? I love eating at the Jerk Hut. I am Jamaican so the food reminds me of home. What's the best piece of advice you have ever been given? Growing up, my father always told me "Whatever you do in life, be the best at it, even if it's a garbage man." I find it to be so ironic that that's exactly what I am doing today, being the best solid waste employee I can be! What bucket list item do you want to check off next? My bucket list item would be to ice skate at Rockefeller Center during the Christmas season as the Christmas trees light up! #Tampa #EmployeeAppreciation

Industrial Wastewater Operators play a vital role in our clean water goals too! Currently under agreement to supply one-on-one tutoring to a candidate urgently needed to fill an operator vacancy. This person must learn an entire new (complicated) field of occupation – and pass a state certification exam. #NoPressure My philosophy on exams… first attempt is a reconnaissance to settle your nerves, so you can come back a second time, and slam-dunk it! Need to prioritize where there is best return for intense training effort. We will be focusing on highlighted high-value targets as we reconvene to prepare for a second exam attempt in 10 days. Thoughts on strategy? #Training #wastewateroperator #cleanwater #Industry
