Chartered Architect I CS&A Responsible Engineer at Sellafield Ltd | RIBA Membership Committee to the Board | Founder of the GAA | Podcaster | Mentor & Advisor | Fellow of the RSA and RIBA
According to Reed the top paying job title is ARCHITECT! Let’s celebrate right? The recruitment company Reed has analysed all the jobs available on its website, which has listed 17 million posts over the past eight years, but excluded leadership roles, to ensure that chief executives and chief financial officers do not skew the data. Here’s where the depressing facts begin. The top three positions are: 1. A security architect, with an average annual salary of £115,700, 2. A solution architect, on £100,700 3. A cloud architect, on £98,400. ❌ Average salary of an Architect who designs buildings is £44,838, according to Reed. Stolen titles added to their whopping salaries I’m going into secuity architecture people! 'Is it just me or are there no jobs in London right now?' 🤔 Someone asked me this recently and it got me looking at the data. 🕵️ As you can see from the Fixed data in this heatmap which shows the concentration of construction jobs around the UK in the last 6 months, most opportunities have been in London. Yet we are hearing from the operatives on the ground that most new jobs being advertised are outside of London meaning they are having to go further afield to find work. This reflects two key trends we are observing: 1. Poor matching of jobs and people due to lack of technology used by traditional methods of finding work. 2. The shift in the macro economic environment through which we are seeing an increase in infrastructure projects that tend to be outside of major cites. We can help companies facing the subsequent challenges. We have a large network of vetted operatives nationwide and would love to support additional projects. Our favourites are the ones that are challenging to resource for! 👷🏗️ Are you seeing the same trend in large infrastructure projects moving away from the capital? DM me if you would like to hear more about what we can offer! 🏗️👷 #constructiontech #constructionrecruitment #constructionjobs #hiring Des Conlon Lucy Clarke

The Washington State Department of Transportation Active Transportation Division is excited to announce that we’re seeking our first ever Active Transportation Communication Lead! This senior-level position will join the management team and play an essential role in building public awareness, understanding, and interest in WSDOT’s work to advance walking, biking, and other human-powered and human-scale transportation. You’ll shape communications about WSDOT’s work in active transportation, Complete Streets, the Safe System Approach, transportation equity and environmental justice, and efforts to reduce vehicle miles traveled and support mode shift. Deadline and details: Interested applicants need to apply by Sept. 28, 2023. The job posting lists some of the responsibilities but not all. I highly recommend requesting the detailed position description following the instructions under Contact Us at the bottom of the job listing. Position location: The posting indicates that it is based in King County. However, we offer flexible/hybrid remote work options. ATD is building a statewide virtual team, and the official duty station for this position will be determined based on candidate preference and overall business needs. In other words, you don’t have to live in or move to King County to be considered as a candidate. Not sure whether you meet all qualifications? Government job applications list a lot of elements and we don’t want any one of those to serve as a barrier to application. Please apply if this position feels like it could be a fit, even if you’re not sure you meet every qualification. ATD has been pleased by the caliber of applicants for our other positions as we work to build a team that represents all of Washington and we welcome your interest. (Anticipating one question we may get: Once a recruitment has been posted we don’t provide informational interviews because we couldn’t do that for every potential candidate. We are committed to an equitable recruiting process that provides opportunity to all.) ATD is a fabulous team doing award-winning work. Join us! https://lnkd.in/gvyXVddY #transportation #TransportationJobs #ActiveTransportation #EnvironmentalJustice #CompleteStreets #MoveEquity #MobilityJustice #walking #cycling #accessibility #Communications #CommunicationsJobs #WSDOTActive

Dear Job Recruiters, I am an Architect (notice the capital A). I am not a Systems architect, a network architect, nor am I in any way related to anything having to do with the IT world outside of creating the buildings that house these systems. PLEASE stop trying to recruit me for jobs that relate to the IT Field just because they have the word "architect" in the job title. Also, I would like to ask you to do me the courtesy to look at my LinkedIn Profile before sending me a job opportunity or connection requests. As a side note about Architects, we go to college for 4-7 years before embarking on three or so years of interning (while getting paid a pittance) just so we can be eligible to take a 5 - 9 part test that costs hundreds of dollars. After all of this, we might have to take yet another costly test so we can get a State License so that we can practice Architecture. We also have to pay to renew or licenses every other year. All of this just so we can call ourselves Architects. No other profession, except a doctor, goes through this much effort to be able to practice their profession. Architects, or rather those studying Architecture or people who design structures not requiring an Architectural License, can get in trouble by the state and have to pay fees, and potentially lose their businesses, if they call themselves an Architect without actually being one. So you can see why I get a little peeved when other professions call themselves architect just because you design something.
