The Youth Strategy we have developed for Tamworth Regional Council is now on public exhibition for feedback until 27 December 2023. We’ve worked with Tamworth Regional Council and their Youth Council to develop the draft strategy and have heard from over 500 young people in the process. We’re excited to see the feedback that comes in, before putting the finishing touches on the strategy in the coming months. We don't normally do 'date in the calander' posts. But NSW Youth Week feels like a conversation that GTF could have something to add to. Our purpose at GTF is to 'Create Space for Young People to Grow'. The word 'Grow' does allot of work for us. Literally, the youth who are apart of GTF are growing food, growing plants, and growing ecosystems. But to us, growing food and transforming the physical environment, is just a tool that we use to create the real growth: growth in CONFIDENCE, CAPACITY AND CONNECTION, within and among the young people we work with. We are lucky to have a community that REALLY cares and wants the best for 12–24-year-olds in the Bega Valley. We also have a bunch of services and community groups that are doing amazing work to support young people. The gap that we saw in the Bega Valley, and a gap we're hoping that GTF is filling, is to have spaces where young people can connect around something that genuinely matters, and in a way that they really feel that they are having an impact on the word. We're not talking about a 'save the world' impact. We're just talking about young people seeing the tangible outcomes of their involvement in the world. We're talking about young people walking past a space that they worked on 1, 2, 30 weeks ago, and seeing the impact that THEY made on the world. As simple as this sounds, in a world where everything is mediated by technology, and young people are more and more disconnected from the physical world, the boost that young people get from these types of experiences should never be underestimated. underestimated. 🍂 #nswyouthweek #regionalyouth #regionaldevelopment #youthprojects #permayouth #socialenterprise #socialimpact #southcoastnsw #sapphirecoastnsw

True. Increasing youth participation in decision making processes is crucial for building a more inclusive and sustainable future. By empowering young people with a voice, we can tap into their innovative ideas and untapped potential to create positive change. Let's pave the way for a better tomorrow by amplifying youth voices in critical conversations and embracing their fresh perspective.
Youth Participation is important because it helps institutions to formulate and implement evidence based policies , allows society to hear the voice of the youth better as well as encourages them to develop new skills and gain more confidence. https://lnkd.in/dyfVK4nm
