Throughout my career I’ve been incredibly blessed to get the opportunity to work on some incredible acquisitions that helped me grow and learn. I’ve taken risks and sought paths that others cautioned me against. But like I’ve told my peers and mentees, you have to advocate for your own career and growth opportunities. We’ve probably all heard the quote, “If a door doesn’t open, it’s not your door.” Recognizing our differences in what motivates us and knowing that “one size doesn’t fit all” provides opportunity to reflect on what truly will make you thrive and happy in a position. I realize this is difficult when working in such a structured DoD environment but it’s still possible. In our journey towards success, we encounter numerous closed doors that may leave us feeling discouraged. But remember, each closed door is simply guiding us towards the right path meant for us. If it doesn't open, it's not your door - trust that something better is in store for you! Let's stay positive, resilient, and open-minded as we navigate through life's twists and turns. The key is to keep pushing forward, staying true to ourselves, and believing that the perfect door will open at the right time. Embrace the closed doors as a chance for growth, learning, and new opportunities.
