Ever spoke at a conference on 45 minutes sleep? I crossed that one off the bucket list last week... and had a blast. I flew into Berlin for Axel Springer's Media + Tech Con on the red-eye with my 10-month old baby and wife by my side. As soon as I landed, I headed to the event to join 1,000 colleagues across the Axel Springer portfolio to talk tech trends, AI, and directions to the nearest coffee. A day of great meetings ended in recording a live podcast on a conference stage. With a near-fatal amount of espresso in my system. I covered two core topics in a conversation with Adib Ashraf Sisani, SVP of Communications, pictured here. 1. Benefits of the AI Ambassadors program: - An interdisciplinary group of executives across the Axel Springer portfolio. - We are selected by company leaders to speak to our AI strategies. - About every month we meet, share challenges, and network. - We rotate presenters — and we help each other overcome roadblocks. - The group accelerates our work in tangible ways every week. - Spearheaded by Niddal Salah-Eldin, President Talent & Culture - Expertly run by Oded Shoham, SVP GenAI Investments. 2. Promising early results from AI tests at EMARKETER: - We ran 5 AI tests in our first month of formal testing. Results: - Saved 128 hours using AI (compared to prior non-AI workflows). - Saved $64,000. - It's a great start, but it won't move the needle for a company of our size. - We are going to scale the number of tests dramatically through EOY. - We expect AI results to translate to significant boosts by EOY. - All credit to AI pilots leaders: Henry Powderly Jennifer Pearson Penelope Lin Shelleen Shum Stuart Entner Thanks to everyone I met for the stimulating conversations. And that's a wrap on White Marble Consulting's amazing CMOx Events for this year! Another great session with amazing & inspiring attendees in London last week, again focusing on the topic of AI use cases in marketing. Amongst many other things (including my anti-suit outfit), my top 3 takeaways were: 1. How to "start small & scale fast" - firms are already seeing some "quick wins" in areas such as RFPs, DDQs and Translation (the latter already opening up some new markets!); as well as their internal knowledge sharing 2. Working with what you've got - using industry leading tools you already own to make progress quickly and benefit from rapid improvements being made in this space is a cost-effective and easy way to get started 3. The "talent & change challenge" - how AI is changing the game when it comes to the talent and skillsets you need in your teams; as well as how to measure performance & go through the change management journey. In fact, the change journey is the hardest part to work through on the way to AI success! Super pumped to be helping firms figure this out & working with them on their journey to achieve operational efficiency & unlock new markets with AI!

Bristol Tech Festival... what a delight! Plenty to learn and do last week - here are a few of my top reflections: 1) I kicked off the week with AMBITIOUS PR at their brand evolution event on Wednesday with some top reminders, including: 🤔 It's not enough to have a USP - you need proof points to validate it. 🔍 Staying anchored to your core values as they're the golden threads binding your brand. 💡 Being agile and recognising the external factors impacting your goals. Plus plenty more to think about. 2) Next up was Ghyston's breakfast event on Thursday - full of bright conversations on the topic of innovation and AI along with our technology leader James Parr. Super interesting to hear how other businesses are adopting AI and striking the balance between risk and reward. The opportunities are endless!🤯 3) Finally, Friday's session with Evelyn Partners on trends, efficiency and sustainability. A couple of interesting points for me; a discussion on the intersection of tech and culture, where the real transformation begins. And leveraging tech to achieve growth without increasing headcount. 🚀 Plus, my fun fact for the week...we spend 8-15% of our time copying and pasting information from one system to another. What a conference! Observing the current landscape, the primary challenge for deploying models at the edge isn't necessarily compute but rather memory and bandwidth constraints. An M2 ultra based Mac, for example, has 1/100th the compute of an A100 but only 1/20th the bandwidth. When running LLM inference it is 1/20th the speed, which demonstrates that it isn't compute bound but bandwidth bound. Are there predictions for the emergence of cost-effective AI inference accelerators boasting larger memory, and significantly enhanced bandwidth, priced more competitively than today's consumer GPUs? #nvidia #m2 #llm

Yesterday was the first in a series of 4 roundtables that we are holding across the country. The topic was the “Future of Work”. We covered a range of topics: ✅ Future Skills. ✅ Hybrid Working. ✅ The 4-day Week. ✅ The future impact of AI. Hosted by Michael Ribbeck, we had a range of businesses in the room, and we will be sharing the output at the end of the month. There are three more roundtables in the series: 👉 Nottingham, 20th Match. “Leading Team Through Change and Uncertainty.” 👉 Manchester, 17th April. “The Impact of Technology at Work.” 👉 Birmingham, 24th April. “Leading Team Through Change and Uncertainty.” Whilst change is ever present, it is the pace of change that is the challenge and opportunity for us all today.
