I had the opportunity to spend time with our talented teams on the West Coast this week. It was great being in Silicon Valley and hearing from my colleagues from many of our teams including Technology, People, Marketing, Communications, Product and more who have been working to ensure that we deliver for our clients and members. I also enjoyed the time spent with senior leaders who inspire our teams daily including our Chief Medical Officer, Vidya Raman-Tangella, Chief People Officer, Arnnon Geshuri, Chief Operations Officer, Mike Waters, President, Hospitals and Health Systems, Andy Puterbaugh, and President, BetterHelp, Fernando Madeira.    I left the Bay Area honored to work alongside so many individuals who are passionate about our business and those we serve. My retirement from GuideWell/Florida Blue was announced earlier this week. I am proud of the past twelve years with the company and all that has been accomplished over a dynamic period in healthcare, as well as the opportunity to work with so many talented and committed employees. I would like to thank all the individuals, businesses, healthcare providers, community organizations and other stakeholders who worked in partnership to make a difference. I remain passionately committed to finding new and innovative ways to positively impact the healthcare system and the health and wellbeing of people.

Earlier this week, we celebrated the life of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, healthcare leader, and community champion. Hundreds gathered in Tampa and via video-stream for a Celebration of Life to honor David Pizzo. Dave was our West Florida Market President and lost his valiant battle with pancreatic cancer earlier this year. I’m grateful to have been part of the special celebration -- of Dave’s life and legacy, his nearly three decades at Florida Blue, and the thousands of lives he touched. Our hearts continue to go out to Dave’s family and we will honor him by leading, serving, working together, and giving back to others.
